Sylvia is a better footballer than Vince - perhaps not in 2009, but definitely in 2014.

That said, I think Vince will be a better footballer for the MFC in 2014 than Sylvia.

Unfortunately a huge talent just never lived up to expectations due to laziness. I wish him well except when they play us!

Why do you say that?

Vince has him covered in every stat in 2013.

More disposals, more goals, more marks, higher disposal efficiency - all despite spending less time on the ground than SYlvia

And they are the same age.

Give me Vince over Sylvia any day of the week

I just want someone who will have a crack week in, week out. NOT when he feels like it, or when we are already 100 points down.

That is VINCE.

Why would we get Adams if he didnt even wanna talk to us.

Screw him.

He may not have wanted to talk to us before, now that we have the 3V's who knows he may see there is going to be far better opportunity with Melbourne than Collingwood financially, and possibly opportunity in getting game time as well, as he may find it harder to break into the Collingwood lineup than ours. Though I am not sure he is the player Roos and co want though. They seem to have a player or swap in mind with our number 9 pick as they seemed to think the player they actually want in the draft would probably still be available for our no 9 pick, which means they have a specific target instead of trying to take what many think is just the best. We still have the rookie draft, free agency and PSD draft to come so there will probably need to be some more list changes coming up to make room.

None at all....I few on here were getting a tad impatient last week.

I'm so looking forward to 2014.

Now to bed down Chip, and I'll be over the moon.

I get you now.

They'll probably re-emerge before too long, especially if they listen to that idiot Barrett.

Heard someone say the other day that Mahoney is seen as one of the rising stars of football admin world.

I reckon Sylvia will dominate at Freo next year.

That's why they matched the MFC contract that was on the table. Lyon's no [censored].

Censored word above = id iot.

Don't know why that word's censored to be honest.

Can we please make the words "star" and "elite" censored too?

They are more offensive than any other word as they destroy newly drafted/traded players at our club.

I think Vince is a much better footballer than Silvia and I've never believed he (Silvia) to be a huge talent. It was the things he lacked that held him back not laziness. Silvia will play a role at Freo but will not be a star.

Anyone else think that we should try and pick up a key defender with one of our later picks. Unless we are thinking of playing Hogan or Watts back we only have Dunn & Pedersen as back up tall defenders.

Anyone any thoughts?

Yes I agree we need to get another running back.

hopefully the Roos team can get some of ours going better.

re the Key defender I hope we draft a kid to understudy the key back role.

we need to trade back into the 2nd & 3rd rounds to grab a good kid. young grimes could be handy too.

Agree to disagree.

That said, whilst I'd like to be proven correct as a keyboard warrior, I hope you're right in that he won't star at Freo.

I reckon he will though. Expect quite a few goals from him from the 50 arc.

Unless Sylvia improves his attitude and consistency I doubt that he will be an automatic member of Freo's best 22 each week.

Given nothing much has been able to get Silvia to produce his best for us consistently after 10 years and probably 10 coaches, its a big call to suggest that moving west will, but i think in time you may be right in that he will play better for freo, not sure he will play better or more consistently than Vince though. I suspect that Silvia will initially get even more complacent at the start with Freo, until he finds he is not getting games in the 1st, then we may start to see him apply himself.

I agree that Sylvia is a better footballer but he is not a natural midfielder. Vince is and will fill our needs more than a forward that can pinch hit in the middle

Those stats are so close that you cannot use them to compliment your argument.

Hope so.

If we land him, we then have a midfield. A fair dinkum midfield.

Something last season, I had thought we were 100 years from.

It's amazing what a proper administration team can do. Set actual realistic objectives and identify the major hole within our team that needs improvement.

Vince is a far better midfielder than Sylvia, while Sylvia is more damaging ahead of the ball.

Vince >> Sylvia

Sylvia is a hopeless mid. He can't handball, is hopeless in close, spends his life tackling at stoppages, because he can't get the first tough - reads the play poorly, and rushes his dispoal because he always thinks he has someone up his clacker. Sylvia is a very good finisher and is suited to a flank with the occasional run on the ball.

Vince kills him and hurts the opposition far more with his disposals.

I dont think we need Cross now that Bernie Vince has come on board.

I think we do Don

We need depth in midfield maturity & some will play HFF maybe HB etc.

atmo we have to be sure our recruits can get on the park & so Cross should be needed. I imagine our ND P9 selection will need some time to adjust & develop.

& maybe some contracted players may yet get traded out.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
