The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill

We have only got 6 senior list spots available with hogan coming on to the senior list, so you need to delist 3 more players. who??

Without knowing contract situations I would look at the Option of maybe not taking Miles and trading out players who they consider surplus for late draft picks you are not going to utilise, I would also take Blake Acres over Zac Jones at Pick 21 if available but don't think he will be there

Just turned on trade radio for the first time ever

I could only handle 45 seconds of those two morons Barrett and Wallace dribbling nonsense before turning it off

will never listen again

Damien Barrett seems to think that his opinion is relevent in some way. It is an absolute disgrace that footy journalists consdier themselves celebrities and experts.

I don't believe picks alone will net the two Crows players we're keen on.

Pick 22 for Vince

Pick 36 for Lyons

Throw in Jack Fitzpatrick (not ideal)

Or

Tapscott

Deal done with the Crows.

Colin Young, manager of Essendon's David Myers joined us.

Question: If David got better opportunities and terms elsewhere, would he move?

Young: "If the Essendon FC were happy with the trade, he'd move. He would love to play in the midfield more regularly. David very could well be in the mix for a trade."

Tapscott is worth very little. Fitzpatrick is a promising forward/ruckman who based on the deals Jessie White, Stef Martin and Cam Pedersen are getting/got is likely to be worth significant value. Even more value in 12 months time if he dominates VFL and plays ok AFL. If he plays good AFL he'd be worth a second round pick easily.

That's a lot to give up. No doubt Vince and Lyons are best 22 and Fitzy isn't (behind Clark for that second ruck position) but Fitzy improved so much in the last 12 months I'd be super keen to keep him. The depth option if Clark isn't fit is pretty shaky as well (?Pedersen or 2 ruckman?)

Wouldn't Fitzy for Lyons be a fair trade considering their respective positions and how much they've shown in AFL. To me both have shown something at AFL level and played good VFL/SANFL. And Vince for 20 is fair to me.

I'd say 22 and 36 for Vince and Lyons considering the crows then get back in the draft and get help to secure Polec is a fair trade.

We could get Myers on board but Essendon wont accept Pick 20 for him. I'm pretty convinced of that. If they wont take pick 22 for Crameri why would they give up a younger player who can be an important midfielder for them?

What should happen is FA last for a week, then the following 2 weeks is the trade period. That way, clubs know the compensation they'll receive before the trade period begins.

How about free agent one day (or even one hour) and trade one more day (or maybe two). Just cut the cr@p and get on with it.

Hang on a moment! Am I the only one seeing this? First we have Jay Clarke a reporter who makes stuff up; then we have Mr Clark Kent, a Demonland poster who makes stuff up; and finally, Clark Kent was a reporter for the Daily Planet. Suddenly everything makes sense!!

brothels have reporters? wow, priceless

If the information that i posted earlier in this thread is correct, they'll trade him. They are just trying to play hardball.

What was that information, sorry I missed it.

That Myers, Kommer and Zakarakis wanted out because of the drug stuff. The latter got talked into staying. The 'wants more midfield time' just paints Essendon in a better light.

This trade period really has been boring. No surprises other than McEvoy

I would be more than happy to be bored silly, and get the right outcome, than entertained and getting to wrong one.

One thing Demon fans should have by now is patience.

I think you mean know.

I'm quite happy where our trades are but I'm talking about my impression of the whole trade period and all the clubs.

Kommer wasn't there in 2012 so I say that's BS. Pretty sure he'd be the last to leave.

Could understand Myers wanting to leave due to a combination of midfield time and general dissatisfaction

If we trade jamar ( which I think we will), then they will keep Fitzy, and I hope for one, they do. Now he is over his injuries and illness, his potential is enormous, just the sort of player who would really thrive under Roos. See jolley......

Because they desperately want to get back into the draft, and while the clock gets closer to midnight they will become more and more desperate. We should just hold our fire and the cards will fall our way.

I'm very impressed how well the guys are playing this. I expect nothing more from PR and PJ. We are in expert hands for a change....

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
