The Trade/Draft Rumour Mill

you nong. I don't know, but I'm not running around like a dill accusing people. If you don't like the way people put the rumours, then switch off & run along. its past your bedtime buddy.

Blah Blah.

If you put out stupid rumours that's what you get. Just because someone posts one, even if it makes no sense, doesn't make them instantly immune to criticism. The Shaw decision showed just how far off the mark he was. I have no idea why you are defending him.

Just out of curiosity if we were to land either Bernie Vince or David Myers with our 2nd live pick(20ish), who would be a greater acquisition to our club. I know Essendon have said said Myers is required players but I still feel he is gettable.

Personally I believe Myers because of his age and size but not much splitting the 2

Myers is younger and could be the better player, Vince is older ans is the better player.

Vince is what he is, Myers could be alot of things but isnt as much atm

how do you know? as of last night it may have been geelong & us?

maybe GWS just decided to up their ante`. or maybe we jumped off?

Well then in that case it was never between "Geelong & us", was it?

By the very definition of it being "Geelong & us" that excludes anyone else like GWS from even being able to up the ante and win his services.

And for that matter, it excludes us jumping off, unless it only left Geelong.

Otherwise the concept of "Geelong & us" is completely meaningless and not even worth saying.

At it is, it was all a poorly constructed made up rumour by someone who never had any chance of knowing.

Not sure about using pick 70, might be useful to save something for the PSD given we have pick 2. Could be someone fall through the cracks.

Yer fair point. However as it stands we have 7 senior list spots available(pretty sure Hogan was on our senior list in 2013) not including if we trade out a jamar, Blease or Tapscott, so if we turn pick 70 into a 30-50"s pick through a trade I'd still like to see us give a Chris Cain or a Kane lambert a chance at AFL level.

Do we have any uncontracted players that may still get the chop? Maybe that seems like a silly question, but I don't pay much attention to the contract side of things.

Sen rumour:

Melbourne - in - Vince and Myers

Out - pick 2

Essendon - in - pick 2

Out - Crameri, Myers, pick 22

Adelaide - in - pick 22

Out - Vince

Bulldogs - in - Crameri

Out - pick 22

God I hope not. We would have just thrown away pick 2 if that were the case. No Essendon player is safe from enfraction notices, and if they get them they will be out for between 2 and 4 years. We will still be up for paying them (unless there is a specific clause in the contracts not to), but in any case, we will be down two players because we will not be able to replace them. Far, far too risky.

Oh, and by the way those same players will likely take legal action against Essendon and the AFL.

Do we REALLY want to be caught up in this?

Got to say Ron, I honestly think GWS don't have a cap. The AFL lets them go for whoever they want and funds them to do so. When it comes to the new franchise success, they use Messendon's motto, 'whatever it takes'.

Explain Buddy then. The Swans overbid them because they didn't want to pay over the top and they didn't want to put future negotiation out of whack. If you are right, neither of these thing would worry them. Indeed they would use them to their advantage and intimidate other clubs with it.

From memory, Adelaide and GC needed to free up list space to put O'Meara/Crouch on their lists at the end of last season. We will need to do the same for Hogan.

Where is this second early twenties pick coming from? For Sylvia, i'm assuming? I highly doubt we'll get that.

I think a few are in for a disappointment here also.

Where is it coming from?

Is that rhetorical?

I think he is Band 3 as Pearce and Chaplin before him.

Band 3 is the pick behind out 2nd round pick. About 24 when pushed out by other comp picks.

That is where it is coming from.

You can tell me it BS but don't tell me you don't know the logic.

The logic is sound, the answer awaits.

I can't help but think there is bigger things happening with Frawley..... If he does end up as part of a mega trade I hope we don't get shafted. If he doesn't get traded we'll know his further intentions soon enough if he mutters the words 'I'll make my decision at the end of the season'.

    GOLDIE'S METTLE by Meggs

On a perfect night for football at the home of the Redlegs, Norwood Oval, it was the visiting underdogs Melbourne who led all night and hung on to prevail in a 2-point nail-biter. In the previous round St Kilda had made it a tough physical game to help restrict Adelaide from scoring and so Mick Stinear set a similar strategy for his team. To win it would require every player to do their bit on the field plus a little bit of luck.  Fifty game milestoner Sinead Goldrick epitomised

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play
