Demonland in an alternate universe

Demonland

It was in today's herald sun online. Just another pointless article that further makes demon supporters feel sick. What about the clubs who overlooked Joel selwood?

I, for one, can not wait until we get back up near the top of the ladder and one of these talentless journalists need to write something positive about the club.

We probably would have ruined Dangerfield by playing him too early and Martin would probably be in rehab talking to the fairies and looking at the pretty lights...just saying :)

Just another pathetic effort form jounos. Hindsight is great. Why pick on us. Richmond picked Tambling over Franklin and Fiora

We are not the only club that passed on players. Im happy with Howe over Parker, Trengove over Rohan, How many other clubs passed over these players. Nic Nat would have gone home by now.

... we don't have to wait to be at the top of the Ladder,, to Fire Up, lift our collective heads Up & glare deep & straight into their Eyes... we can now, & we can stand straight & strong, because what doesn't Kill Us, will just Fire Us Up even more.

they are trying to belittle & emasculate us, but they can't, because we've been doing it to ourselves for 45 Years...

.... its time we got Angry !!! Footy Angry.

This is so pathetic and could be done for most clubs. Forget about it, we have to because there is nothing more to be done. Prendergast (curse that name) is gone and has been replaced by much more capable people. We look forward.

Okay, I'll try in this thread.

Naitanui>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Watts.

Blokes like this make the game of Aussie rules so great.

Nic Nat, Cyril.. hmmm. Don't remind me. As for the rest, when we fix our development side people will be saying this about teams that overlooked players that we chose instead.

We've got some major catching up to do for sure.

But you never know, if things turn around fairly quickly on the field, some of these same parrot journos will be praising our selections in years to come!

I've said many times that demonland is a sort of bizzaro world alternative universe. Just look at the lunatics who post here - they have to be the fantasy creations of a drug destroyed mind. In the real world Melbourne is undefeated this season and our 15 players in the top 100 are all tracking well. Jack Watts is an early favorite for both the Coleman and the Brownlow. He and Dawes will fight out the former.

Our 17th flag is considered a near certainty and Collingwood coach Neeld finds himself under extreme pressure.

And you and stuie are besties, 186 was our biggest winning margin against the Cats, Jo Gutnick is about to pour his 5th 5 million dollar donation into the club and Magner just took mark of the year.

Oh, and Biffen's back.

Yes let us look forward and hope to God that our recruiters when they have an early pick say between 1 to 5 and then early second round etc, they look at the players rated at each level in those rounds who have the agression, who have an appetite for the physical contest. Agression, confidence and some skill goes a long way in AFL. Look at tonight's game, the Hawks are loaded with aggressive and skilled players that we can only look at in awe; at how they throw themselves at the contest yet keep getting up and doing it again and again. Is it possible to draft in some talented mongrel? I've been watching VFL/AFL for years and nearly every premiership team has had its fair share of tough, hard, intimidating players. Of course it's more subtle now, looking at The physicality of Luke Hodge the last few weeks I am thinking he is just as physically damaging and as intimidating in games as Lethal was but without the outright brutality of the 70's of course. He somehow stays within the rules but you know his intent is to do damage as he managed again tonight to do to Selwood.

We would have only screwed him up at the NFC. as that is what we do best.

A guy with dreadlocks, and a guy with tattoos on his neck, drafted by MELBOURNE?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

No.

Come on guys. Even in a parellel universe these guys are too lower-class to pull on a Melbourne jumper.

Come on you gaiz.

Standard crap from the HUN, and from anyone who's taken this article as another excuse to get on the 'Naitanui > Watts' or 'Martin > Trengove' or 'we should have Dangerfield' bandwagons.

If we'd drafted Naitanui, he more than likely would have gone back home. He also would have about 30% less muscle mass on his body, and wouldn't have been trained by Dean Cox, but instead would have been 'led' by Mark Jamar.

At the time, Trengove was not rated any less than Martin, but Martin had some perceived extra baggage. It's not like we went left-field on Trengove.

But then again, who cares? It's so much easier to complain about these things than to think about them.

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

    WELCOME 2024 by Meggs

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. The Matildas have been playing to record sell-out crowds across Australia and ‘Mary Fowler is God’ is chalked onto footpaths everywhere. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
