I like our current emblem. Not everything Schwab did was bad. Our current emblem was the work of Stynes as much as Schwab.

The current emblem is terrible. All over the place with way too much on it.

Keep it simple stupid....

In addition, please get rid of those stupid collars from the jumper. The only purpose they serve is to make the players look ridiculous.

I have to say Scruie that your 3 week old did a very good design job. I posted, when the new emblem came out that it was cliched, but was howled down. Something with a clear message or indication of who we are (ie the Demons) is far more appropriate. I have always supported the KISS principle.

I know it seems a trivial thing to some, but I'm wondering if a few of us here could put our heads together to send a few new emblem ideas to the MFC?

With a whole new approach and image needed, the emblem is a big part of it, and to me the current one is a bit spiritless and directionless like our club has been.

I'm not trying to start a thread on thoughts on the current one, it's been discussed a bit, but more wanting to start a thread for any creatives on here to throw some ideas around and do something productive for the club we love. More of an ideas thread rather than a MFC bashing thread.

I'll get the ball rolling with a quickie from last night while up with a 3 week old...

No need too Emblem we have now is best we've had

Love ya work stuie. I always loved our old demon from the 60's - 70's.

My browser is showing the blue as more black than blue.

Having said that, I'm prepared to see out our current emblem for the time being. That doesnt mean something better can't be done along the lines of our current one. So see what you can do modifying what we have now. yes it does look busy, and it would be nice to have a demon reference in there. See what you can come up with using a combo of both?

When it comes down to it, i wouldnt care if it was a red and blue flag with MFC on it. I want wins on the board, my clock is ticking, I cant afford rebuilds upon rebuilds for much longer.

I must admit I utterly dislike the current emblem. Its all over the place and means nothing. My wife also tells me it all went down hill from the time we adopted it.

will always love the 80s demon logo. But don't mind the above.

The current emlem is too busy.

If you look on the AFL websites at all the emblems at the top of the page, Ours is unrecognisable, it doesnt stand out.

It does need a makeover.

How about this?

demons2_zps68e0096e.jpg

That's looking more ballsy Stuie. Like it. Just wondering, do we really need to keep telling everyone (including ourselves) that we're the oldest club in the land "Est 1858"? Not saying it has to go....just wondering.

So in summary i like the background, the V, the Demon.

If i could suggest as some alternatives to mull over.....

1. Reduce the Font size on the word "Demons" somewhat

2. Instead of "Melbourne Demons" up the top of the V just have "The Demons"

3. Running on the bottom border of the Red V, insert...."Melbourne (down the left border) FC (up the right border)". However, this could clash with "The Demons" banner of course. If it does, alternatively it could be placed on the bottom V just under the Demon beast even if this means lifting him up a little.

4. Remove the "MFC" logo as we've included the full name of the club in No. 3. above

Of course feel free to ignore everything i've just said as well!

Change is not always for the best.

Sometimes if it aint broke dont fix it.

Good distraction Stuie and good efforts

Can you produce a draft based on Nascent idea

I reckon we need to emphasis the "Melbourne" and reduce the demons in case the AFL decide the Darwin demons is the next expansion team that they are funding.

That said the drawn demon makes no doubt about it and can be used to incite the club to act like demons

Stuie, how's your masterpiece coming along mate? Or is this the finished product?

Posted

Slightly off-topic, but thought I'd give Stuie another project to work on.

Out of all the 18 club theme songs in teh AFL, "It's A Grand Old Flag" is the only club theme song that has no mention of the town/suburb of the team, nor its actual nickname. It's not until you get to the second verse that the word "Demons" is mentioned.

So Stuie, can you please record a new version ensuring our "name" is mentioned. Cheers.

3AW just then. While fawning over our indigenous guernsey and how much better it is than our usual outfit, Caro says "watch this space". Says not only are the club working hard on a new logo and branding for the club, but revamped guernseys for next year. Think we'd already been told the away strip was being revamped but missed this year's cut-off, but good to hear more confirmation.

PJ's fingerprints all over this.

Usual outfit? Our jumper is one of the best in the league, or are they talking about the clash jumper?

Didn't specify, but you'd have to assume clash jumper.

Unless the MCC logo will be made more prominent in our home jumper. I like the subtle integration of it this year, but it's unnoticeable on telly.

bloody better be talking about the clash.... Our Home Guernsey is sacrosanct.

and i dont mind the emblem. but a "logo" might be an entirely different thig

I saw a faint MFC emblem watermarked on the front of the home jumper a few weeks back. Was quite large in the middle on the 'point' of the red V. I noticed it when watching player interviews on the ground after the match. Anyone else see this?

Yeah it's on our home jumper. Has been all year.

The club has just hired a new graphic designer, so would expect to see some subtle changes to our look and quite possibly some major changes for next year.

I like the current Emblem for formal occasions & letterhead etc, as the trademark.

But wouldn't mind have a fun logo for casual things, like newspaper headlines, AFL website insignia, & other casual functions.

maybe we could improve this one to look fierce & more knarly.

HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
