WELCOME TO DEMONLAND - PAUL ROOS

Yes, thank you OD. I also didn't know they had Ablett. Geez, now we're no chance!

If you read my post again, you'll see I said it doesn't mean anything is certain for Melbourne next year. We're not going to be playing finals next year. What GC has shown, though, is that you can have a terrible year (they were awful last year, really really awful) but turn it around in the next year. If we improve 50%, or 75% of what GC did this year, from where we are now that's a great start.

I fully understand what you are saying TU

I have held the opinion since the start of the 2012 season that our list was the worst in the Competition and nothing I have seen in the last 33 games makes me think differently.

You can pull your socks up quickly if you have some on.

The problem as I see it is we don't have much in the hosiery department.

Now Please remind me how wrong I was at the half way mark next year when we are 5 - 6.

Obviously at the moment we are in a dark period at MFC,

But there are some serious upsides e.g. Jesse Hogan, development of young guns, Number 2 pick this year, potential new gun coach.

But as a footy club what we need to focus on is the next 11 rounds, in my opinion they are do or die. The current list need to show they are worth a cracker and come out to play some real footy.

You are correct

But I cannot get my head around the fact that we have been so poor that a positive for the dees now is how we can not look like a basket case for the next eleven rounds

Your last sentence means your first sentence is wrong.

I don't think that the Gold Coast's form from 2012 to 2013 suggests that we are going to be 5-6 next year. What I think is that, if we do things right (e.g. appoint the right coach), improvement will come faster than pessimists like you think.

They certainly can!

Roos would be great, but I just can't see it happening. Money is the ultimate carrot to those who have none. To those who have money or success, the challenge and the fire in the gut is the greater appeal. If we can get him - well done PJ.

But Choko or Eade have a fire in the belly and WANT to coach. Aren't these ingredients as vital as experience and influence?

If Roos were to come on board when would he start?

The reason I ask is cause of the draft and speaking with all players especially ones which are out of contract in an attempt to keep them.

2yrs on from that, Swans are premiers.

Things can change quickly, although there is one thing that will take a bit of time...

Getting a decent (and I mean decent) midfield in order.

The Ox just said they're talking 1.5M for Roos which could financially cripple us even more and I reckon Choco would do it for 6-700k.

I've got 100% faith in Action Jackson but he'd want to have a 1M Dollar sponsor over the line.

I'd say the AFL will probably be footing at least part of the bill.

Well, how about performance-based pay? Say $200 per membership above 35,000?

This is an interesting point. Why is it only our players that don't respond? Doesn't seem to be a problem at other clubs. Still plenty of work to do to get rid of the softcockery and bad cultural elements.

Neeld was brought in to harden up the team. Wasn't able to take the players with him though.

We have no senior leaders hence the recruiting strategy and the two Jacks as Captains. That bit is not MNs fault. Its the total lack of competitiveness that has been appalling.

The lack of leadership has been profound in the last decade save for Neita and Junior. Bruce, Green, White, Yze were not leaders who could be relied on or drive a teams performance when we were getting beaten.

I blame Gutnick that we have no senior 27-31yo's with 200 games. The draft picks we lost through his squealing are still hurting us.

... there's a potential 5 wins in our run home, I reckon we could win 4, which would put us on 5 wins & above imo, the Lions & Saints... I don't think we'll get a look in @ Boyd or Scharenberg...

"......... we need to focus on is the next 11 rounds...."

I agree. Another loss and we can kiss the finals goodbye for this year.

I just want the new caoch to start as soon as possible even if it's only as an assistant. That way he (assuming it's a he) will know what he wants to do with the players for 2014 rather than wait for the end of 2014.

after all this if they settle for choco or eade you can forget it...

that just means we've learnt nothing, & gone nowhere!

Its the Take it On attitude we need, the entrepreneurial attitude that takes the risks then, makes them work, after that... the type that gets you a Olympic Pool to make a home out of.

let's not stand still any longer... fear has no place in a Demon Jumper.

But then we'd lose a priority pick......

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
