Neeld Post Match - Platitudes and other nonsense talk

He should be ashamed of himself for not sticking up for the players. It's no wonder they don't give two shits about him and have no fight in them. If the coach won't fight for them, why should they fight for him?

It's like working for an [censored] boss who makes you do things you don't agree with, and when you get questioned, your boss does not take blame or accountability. Pathetic.

Please don't tell me he said that. That's the same approach he took at the start and why he never had the players buy in. There has always been a lot of 'they' statements. I picked that up very early on ( not alone in picking it mind you) and never liked it.

If the boys win its 'we'. Lose and it's 'they'. I have waxed and waned regarding this bloke but I think his ego is ahead of his capacity to do the job. One of those blokes who probably interviews well. Cannot now wait to see the back of this overly intense buffoon.

Intense buffoon is a bit over the top. Neeld can't coach and obviously has problems in the area of motivational addresses but the guy does have some passion. Sad for him. No other club would have gone close to picking him ? Was all such a rush. Damn it!

Viney and Sylvia tried for him . The rest half baked.

I agree with this. Particularly the "The way Viney goes about his game is the future of this club."

He has highlighted a 3 game player, essentially saying the rest are sh*t.

Viney might be the future, but 4 or 5 years away.

FFS back them, the players, to the hilt in public....then beat the sh0t out of them in private.

Won't be watching any more of the presser sh9t until Neeld is gone.

I'm honestly staggered by that. I don't dislike him but lines like that make me question his character.

Please for gods sake, enough of this. He has to go.

He has a point though.

Its chicken and egg.

He ain't telling to play like that but they are and he wears the heat.

No player would deliberately go out and not try. Do you think they want to be seen as shite?

The reality is we have the worst list in the comp.

Having watched the presser, the context in which Neeld dropped that line was more innocent than it sounds prima facie. I don't think he was trying to lay blame solely on the players. Still, he needs to be extremely wary of such statements.

Neeld as a teacher should know what to do when the messages are not getting through.

I am sure he has tried many ways.

But to not shoulder the blame as a senior coach in the presser was just incredible.

I think he knows the dream is over....

I think they were asking questions about his likely ability to hold his job in the face of such losses and he was deflecting the comment and asking the reporters to focus on the play and players rather than his coaching tenure

Cant believe that he would say the first 1/2 was great & they were proud of them @ 1/2 time!

WTF we lost to an expansion team by 10goals....our tackling & skill level was a disgrace!

The team is playing worse than last year & he says the players are fitter & stronger!

Taken completely out of context.

Neeld was asked about his inexperience as a coach and was trying to say "don't worry about me being inexperienced - the inexperience on the field is the issue".

Even still, it makes you question if this is really the job for Neeld, maybe we need someone who has seen it all before.

Everyone here has every right to be absolutely spitting chips but the presser was fine. The two concerns highlighted here (the strength factor compared to GC and the look at the players stuff) are ridiculous. The strength stuff was used as an example of how poor we were and explained why we missed so many bloody tackles and the don't worry about me line was a re-hash of something he said after the Essendon game. He was actually going in to bat for the players suggesting he's big enough and ugly enough to deal with the aftermath of yet another thrashing but feared for the psyche of his young team.

The real concern was the three hours that occured before the presser. There's a carcass there that is still warm. Forget the presser.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
