Jack Trengove

Recommended Posts

Why the hell are playing a guy who has been underdone in the pre season in a variety of positions when he has yet to show that he can accomplish the mastery of one position?

Along with Watts, I cant think of a player more mis managed or treated at MFC than Jack Trengove. I am not sure he will ever achieve the expectations of his No 2 draft pick billing.

But FMD we seem to be destroying the kid at every turn. I would have thought Jack Trengove deserves better than that from MFC.

Yeh let's blame Neeld for his foot injury and his lack of pace. You look sillier by the day

The more I think about all this, the simplest answer to Jack's loss of pace is his stress fracture. It must have been bothering him last year (which contributed to him slowing down), and now that it's been largely treated he still has to manage it which is stopping him from regaining what he lost last year.

It remains to be seen whether or not he can return to where he was (let alone surpass it), but provided his leadership qualities are good enough he should remain co-captain for the foreseeable future.

I'd say that's the case, but i think it was pretty obvious that the moment he did his injury in the pre season we had to lower our expectations of him for a good part or all of this season. Unfortunately that hasn't happened for some people, which is totally up to them.

Kid jogs around slower then Frawley in Games. No wonder we are sitting at the bottom of the ladder when our only fit captain is doing that.

Drop him and name Jones captain. People are going to come to his defence about this post but either Jack T or Neeld should go. If he ain't fit don't play him, if he is fit and playing as he is then he is not captain material.

You miss the point of this thread. Its not whether he should be in the ones or not, its about his dramatic loss of pace.

Agree. His endeavor is not questioned; his lack of pace is. The MFC are responsible for that.

Aside: my, Rhino. With the leash off you are certainly setting standards for forthrightness. No wondering where you stand! Still the old sarcastic barb tho'.

How is talking about Jack Trengove in a Jack Trengove thread missing the point?

And isn't the reason for his loss of pace obvious. He either A. over it or B. Injured

yeah a player is going to miss 17 weeks with a broken colalrbone

not a chance

Suddenly they are saying Grimes is out for a minimum of 8 weeks when it was 6-8 previously, Jones elevated to co-captain and interestingly Garland is made vice captain.

Watch this space and don't jump to conclusions. I've been around here long enough that you can trust I don't just spread [censored] for no reason.

No, but you are very prone to exaggeration. The fact is that it would be pointless to have Grimes out for 8-10 weeks without taking advantage of the chance to elevate James Magner. And as for the captaincy issue it seems obvious that since Trengove and Grimes were selected as dual captains, the obvious way to allow the remaining fit captain to play the role he is used to would be to designate a replacement for the injured player.

No conspiracy theories here please.

I like the dual captains thing anyway because it allows perhaps our best leader to continue speaking to the players while someone else deals with that stupid coin-toss rigmarole.

Lol that's rich coming from someone who compared Tom McDonald to Gillies.

I was passing on information word for word, so how is that a conspiracy theory?

If you don't like what you read, stop reading it. Pretty simple.

Ouch. But how can I know I won't like reading something if I don't read it?

And as for the conspiracy theory line, you might be certain it's true, but no-one else knows what you know. Until we do, a little bit of skepticism is a good thing.

What annoys me is the crap that comes out of the club, I feel I just can't trust anything they say anymore. Grimes was going to be 6 to 8 weeks then 6 weeks now 8 weeks minimum, all in the space of a few days.

Jones and Garland elevated and not long after Trenners is announced as having a calf strain and will miss up to 3 weeks, I'll put money on it being more, and all of a sudden Jones is Captain. If Trenners has a problem with fitness, and if they want to give him a mini pre season, then just say so, if he still has a problem with his foot, then just say so.

When anything comes out of the club now I just don't know if I can believe it. This is all too convenient and in view of Trenners form it looks as if they have dropped him without dropping him.

Dc I doubt they have any better idea than us.

Once you get a six week injury it just depends how well the individual recovers.

Then add the publicity spin and who knows

I think they've just gone LTI on the safe side, sure it's a 6-week injury but that means if it's a 100% repair he'll get two full weeks of training to make sure it's okay before he returns. Plus it gives them the Magner option, like how they LTI'd Gawn in the pre-season just to be safe in case they wanted to elevate Magner for Rd1.

Have to agree Robbie. Right at this point in history I do not believe anything that comes out of this organisation. It is at an all time low, coaching is shyte, administration is secretive and the club is bereft of communications.

It looks from the outside as if the make it up as they go along. PR is shocking compared to what the top clubs put out.

What a terrible year so far for anyone who supports this organisation.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
