Whatever the root cause/causes the bottom line for our club is pizz poor onfield performance. What CAN this guy realistically be expected to achieve in 6 months to start some sort of recovery from the mess of the last 7 years?

I agree to an extent BBO. I reckon that Jackson is the first step. A circuit breaker if you will. Hopefully, whoever the next CEO is they need to be handed that Jackson report directly from the man himself. It cant be sanitized or buried by anyone with an agenda.

I would have thought there would have been something posted on the website or even Twitter saying welcome.

Is he coming here to assist MFC or to report back to the AFL?

My bad... apologies - looks like I might be one of those pea brains he was referring to :-)

Maybe his first week is to interview every listed player and find out why they cannot play good football under Mark Neeld.

He can skip jones and Clark. Whilst Spencer can refuse to testify on the basis that no coach could make him a good footballer

James Hird inherited a very good list thanks to a lot of hard work by Matthew Knights.

Even Essendrug scum who called for his head will admit it now.

Hird & Bomber made the job of Knights untenible.

& both of them are looking very suspect today.

Yeah, only Knights was a [censored] coach...or at least wasn't to a standard expected by Essendon and its fans.

Call them scum, call them whatever, they have standards and they are justified in those standards. How does Melbourne stand up against Essendon over the past 50 years?

We shouldn't accept 24-goal losses, 100-point losses, no matter what the end goal. I literally go into every game CONFIDENT, very CONFIDENT, that a 100-point loss is possible.

THAT'S untenable.

Well, what have Kochie and the coaching staff achieved at Port since last October? :P

cook yes. Be careful with the freo pair. They inherited a club Schwab made a lot of money for (2 team town in mining boom state I could've made them money). And they've spent it on a coach who fell short at st Kilda an now has left them staring at a dark hole when their best performed players are over 30. Now I love Lyon as a coach for match day but freos 2 best players are approaching 30 and recovering from surgery. They've got clever depth for sandilands but now with Kepler out who knows who is going to be a tall forward for Freo.

I would argue Freo's best player is Nat Fyfe and they have a lot of coin to target some A graders come seasons end, my mail is Harry Taylor is in their sights and Buddy is also being looked at with Woodside providing a 3rd party deal.

Yes Schwab helped them clear a massive debt but what the other two have done is made them a hard nosed club changing their culture, they now expect to win, it's no longer about being competitive and winning just derbies for the Dockers

i am not disagreeing.

But Matthew Knights wasn't a terrible coach. He just wasn't Essendon.

Mark Neeld is a different story.

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator attended training out at Casey Fields to bring you the following observations from Preseason Training. GATOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS There were 5 in the main rehab group, namely Gawn, Petracca, Fullarton, Woewodin and Lever.  Laurie was running laps by himself, as was Jefferson.  Chandler, as has been reported, had his arm in a sling.  Lindsay did a bit of lap running later on. Some of the ''rehab 5'' participated in non contact drills and b

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov
