This is a team that last year coaches were pulling out of the coaching job because they thought they were that much of a rubble. Wow look at them now.

They got a hard edge coach. A new CEO

The have brought in quality young players from other clubs Monfries,Stevenson,Heath, along with young draftees like Wines, and Neade, Mitchell from the WAFL.

Hinkley has improved players in the space of 1 pre season like Hartlett,Pittard,Moore,Wingard,Jonas they were all struggling under Primus. Dont worry about Richmond this is how you do it.

Yep !! No offence to jimmy ..... But he's an outside mid. What did we lack ?? Inside mids massively .....

I thought it was wrong at the time and nothing has changed. Jack and oli would have set up out midfield for the next 10 years.

I think our list has more unfulfilled talent than port's so a decent coach and stuff and we might well be able to improve just as rapidly

Things that don't work don't often get better without a change in infrastructure. Our players aren't as bad as our team is.

Completely agree. Has been said on here many times - we are shite....but with little if any confidence in oneself or the group we offer absolutely NO resistance when it goes a bit tough.

I like alot of what Neeld has done OFF field in getting the list together, bringing in some leaders (even if past it), making us have a broad coaching group, Misson being a key - we can't even get an LTI when we want one!.....but he has given us NOTHING on the field.

Hinkley seems to have hit Port with a tough...."it's this way or else" AND crucially "you blokes can play a bit, let me help you find out how much".......Neeld has ALL the former and NONE of the latter.

Save the cash.....make Neeld Senior Assnt, Craig coach and move on.......QUICKLY!!!!!!!!!!!

Boak (A grade), Hartlett (becoming A grade), Cornes (A grade), Ebert (B+ at least), Broadbent (experienced), Wines plus Wingard and Monfries from the forward line.

Now that's what you call a young midfield, with some veteran help from a rejuvinated Cornes. Plus they play 2 rucks to give them a chance around the ground and at the hitouts.

Compare to Melbourne:

Jones, Viney...Matt Jones just starting his AFL career, Toumpas not ready, Sylvia not keen to be a midfielder, Trengove still finding his feet from injury, Michael Evans the same and the rest of the blokes are flankers.

We need some cattle to come through in the midfield. We then need our new recruiter to strike it rich with proper pick ups as mentioned the likes of Heath and Stephenson.

We are paying for the years of Barry Prendergast and even last year when we had Todd Viney do AFL recruiting on a one off basis.

Neeld has incenerated most of the senior player list & stripped them of leadership duties!

Game plan makes sense!

Bomber Thompson might disagree with you there. Short memory.

Bomber had made a prelim before he was reviewed. And they needed leading teams to change the culture. Mooney admitted before 07 they were loving life and on the [censored] a lot of the time. Then they got serious.

Neeld may have improved training but I heard plenty of the lads were out and about last night....despite the fact through 3 rounds the average losing margin is over 100!

Which game plan are you talking about - if its Hinkley's then yes it makes sense!

Too true they were a mess after that loss to GWS last year and to see them going so well now is a full credit to them.

That will be us next wk.

We will have a new coach Monday morning if its the case.

hinkley walked into a team that was ready and primed, primus had done all the hard work with recruiting the mids, working on a team orientated defensive mould, and playerd were told to perform for the team or leave, it was a pity primus got fired as he had done all the hard work and the easy work is what hinkley has to do

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.
