Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Just because the ball is coming in to our defence a lot doesn't mean he gets a chop out. If you think he hasn't let himself down this year at times, you're delusional. Don't accept mediocrity. No wonder our players don't develop after their first couple of years.

If your so sure....Can you state his opponents stats for this year???.......How many goals kicked on him personally???......A lot of other players have been down this year as well........How is our whole backline going?????

You fail to grasp the crux of my argument. I'm not talking about PERFORMANCE. I'm talking about EFFORT. Dean Terlich doesn't currently have the talent of Frawley, yet he busts his guts and while he might not even be performing as well as Frawley, 100% effort is all you can ask for.

So it's we supporters accepting mediocrity that has held back the player development at the club? Thanks for clearing that up.

Frawley still has about 39 games to play before he comes out of contract, plus finals hopefully, it's hard to defend when your getting belted by 15 goals every week, lets hope last week was the start of our revival, his job will be a lot easier if we can start winning a few, I will back him to remain at mfc long term.

Riper bloke, spoke to him for quite a time at Casey last year preseason and one of the few "up to standards" on our list. Some of his battles with Jack Riewoldt have been fantastic so its not surprising the 'white ants' might be about. But this bloke can play, has been AA, has been one of our best players since he started with us, was a high draft pick, has continuously carried a higher burden down back due to our inept midfield and I would be very disappointed if our club allows a player of his ilk to depart. Other clubs would be queuing up to get a bloke like this. Big strong and fast. Just a joke to think we would even remotely consider this happening when we consider some the recent extended signings that have made many of us scratch our heads. Who gives a stuff about high draft picks in exchange. We need Hogan and Frawley done for an extended period .Must retains to build the club around. I would expect the club to hurry up to get both of these things done . Anything less would be unthinkable and unacceptable. We pay people at the club to retain the good ones.

Who could blame him for feeling disillusioned at the moment? GWS match notwithstading the team is really struggling, and has been for quite some time, and he's constantly under the pump. I'd almost expect his morale to be shot under the current conditions. That doesn't mean though that he will still feel that way when the time to action it comes. My expectation is that even if this is true, at some point over the balance of his contract he'll find a moment of clarity and work out that he wants to stay where his mates are. There's been exceptions, but that's mostly the conclusion footballers come to and I don't think Frawley will be any different. I also think the club will put a lot of pressure on him to stay.

I always laugh when I read these threads though. There's always the odd person who moves straight to "WELL IF HE DOESN'T WANT TO STAY I DON'T WANT HIM ANYWAY!!!11", even on the back of a rumour that has all the credibility of an AFL tanking investigation. These people need to recalibrate their self-defence reflex. I can't believe that anyone who follows the MFC genuinely believes that the club would be better off without James Frawley; some are just lying to themselves to soften the blow if he does leave.

He's too slow at decision-making which leads to turnovers.

It depends how the rest of the team is moving and whether they're presenting options.

Definitely needs to find form. I have to cringe every time he comes out of the backline. He's way too slow on the switches in the back half, indecisive and kicks the ball numerous times out on the full. Also needs to play in front more.

Yes, he WAS a truly spectacular backman 2 years ago but I'm not judging him on what he was so much as what he is now. Management will ponder the idea of trading him whilst other clubs still think his value is high.

Lot of time for Chip but I cannot get my head around his from of the last 12 - 16 months. He was a great backman; the cornerstone of our defence. I cannot fathom how someone can decline to such an extent. I used to like the ball in his hand and now it's about the last thing I want to see. He can and will turn it around. I'm backing him in.

With the recruiting since the end of 2011, (inc' Clark), I trust their judgement.

If Frawl's wants to get out,,, to the Cats or Saints, Hawks or Swans, then I am sure we can make a trade that will be a win win.

If he wants to stay, thats great.

the footy dept will no what they are doing.

the thought of losing him saddens me.

... it does, but I've gone beyond feeling sadness for the players (except Frawley, as he was one of our bright lights) & looking to the survival of the club itself.

I've become so disillusioned by the footballers at our club since around 1999, I'm seriously over them. the majority seem so selfish, since around that time, but there are some exceptions.

& I'm glad we have Co captains in Grimes & Trenners with that Jonesboy. plenty of vacant seats on this respect bus.

Those 3 have made a stand and have shaken off the negative views they once received on here. I'm very happy about that, particularly Trenners who i was super worried about not so long ago but he is shaping up to be the beauty we hope he'd be.

Still only 21 years of age too, the kids only gonna get better.

Now for the rest of em' (with some obvious exceptions of course)

yep , but also there is a real approachable-ness about the captains. can't say for jonsey? can't tell

the 2 co captains do not seem to have that snobby stink about them which I think is so important, & I think will set them in good sted for other players to be able to appraoch them as they get older.

I think they can open this club up, with this air of trust & friendliness.

I always had faith in Trenners, I can see it in him... as does Grimes. they're Not pretentious. this is huge as a start for the club, & I wonder if this will allow other players to feel more connected & less defensive.

Agree with every word here. Frawley, whilst well down on his best this year, is still our best defender by a fair margin.

As for Sylvia, sure he's great when on, but that is very rare. If he goes at the end of the year, a large percentage of our salary cap will be free (even more so with the retirement of Davey).

I think Terlich and Garland are our best defenders so far this season. Yes, Terlich even at this early stage. Terlich's probably getting the 2nd or 3rd best forward so maybe that's a little unfair on Chip but Chip just seems happy to put in a reasonable game each week rather than extend himself to the next level.

Terlich is "A" grade in attitude, effort and attack urgency at the ball/opponent. Chip is a B grader who's shown spurts of A grade form and effort in years past but has never quite taken that next step and definitely hasn't so far this season. Still a solid defender though IMO.

Hopefully by seeing Terlich's efforts/urgency and willingness to take the game/opponents on, and even Garland's improved efforts and confidence so far this season, he might start to get a little riggle and niggle on in his attitude and put that extra effort/urgency and more effective/smart disposal into his game as the season progresses.

Could be a little burnt out after seeing so much ball rain down on the defenseive lines the last 12 months. Maybe a little refresher up forward would't hurt for a few games, similar to what Neeld tried with Garland late last year. They say a change is as good as a holiday!

He is an absolute legend,

To put it this way, he spoke to me more than I spoke to him! Great guy.

If James Frawley thinks that his effort this year has been anything other than unacceptable, I don't actually want him to stay. He needs to pull his finger out now. He is setting a horrible example for the younger guys.

Your first position.....that you'd prefer him to go if he thinks his effort is acceptable is over the top.

That he has let himself down this year at times.....sure every player out there has.

Frawley is a must retain payer for this club. bringing down the flood of inside 50's with no pressure will make a huge difference to him

I think Chip got unfairly criticised for the GWS game, his opponent Cameron had his first posession in the 3rd quarter!

Frawleys decision makng was a bit poor at times, but so were just about all 22 of our players in what was awfully scrappy

and poor standard first 3 quarters.
In contrast, Tom McDonald had Five goals kicked on him by Setanta O Hailpin, an average footballer at best. I dont see

people calling for his head.

Just out of curiosity, at this point would you be willing to offer james frawley an 800k to 1m four year contract extension, show him how much he means to the Melbourne Football club and how highly we rate him?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
