Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Today was better. The damage was done in the third quarter, but there was some stemming of the tide in the last. It was a step forward. Not as big as I'd like, but it shows what is possible.

For those who recommend changing the coach, think what would happen. The panel of board members who selected the last two coaches would make another similar left field selection. The new coach would tell us we have to clean out the list - it'll take a few years to rebuild - deja vu all over again.

I think its better to stick with Mark Neeld - accept that the coach needs to learn coaching as much as the players need to learn playing. Give him all the help he needs, and let him see out his contract at least. Then see if we need to start from scratch with another rookie coach.

I think you got his slightly backwards, Moloney came in and [censored] on the bar.As many people have said, why the hell would Roos want to give up a [censored] load of money, move his family from Sydney to Melbourne and take on this team?

Moloney, bog, [censored] on a bar, the next week, bog again.

Im not looking for choir boys.

Nb. Moloney nearly won the brownlow in 2011, and won the Bluey.

Neeld has fcuked us, big time.

So tell me why Roos would want to coach us?

Cause if he comes in and turns us around he will be looked at an even bigger star/legend than he already is. His rep will go through the roof.

What happens if he dosent succeed I hear u ask? It WONT happen he is not the type of person not to.

So tell me why Roos would want to coach us?

Because the AFL may offer him a [censored] load of money and it would be his greatest challenge. Imagine what it would be like for him if he won a flag for us, he would go down as one of the al time greats.

For this we sacked Cameron Schwab ... congratulations!

Without a doubt, it saved us from an embarrassing triple figure loss.

Who's the next scapegoat?

Expecting results after just a few days?

One things for sure - we can't blame Cameron Schwab for today's shellacking.

Unless the players are mentally scarred from his 'Whiteboard Wednesdays' or his 'meddling' in 2011.

Of course, Cameron 'Polarised the supporter group' but I'm still looking for a logical explanation on how this can make the team perform poorly.

Maybe it was the sight of CS at Friday mornings training - that must be it ^_^

The sad thing in all this is that if we had another 2-3 mids along with Jones and Viney, we would be good.

Our forward line is good and our back line is good too despite what is going on. You cant expect the backline to be performing when the bloody pill is in there half for 80% of the game.

First half I was actually enjoying watching the boys for the first time in a long time. Second half it was back to normal unfortunately.

sorry Ox what are you smoking - only need a couple more mids, good backline, good forward line. If that was the case then we would not be loosing by the vast quantities that we are.

Have our backline all had lobotomies? The decision making is appalling! Frawley looks like he has lost all confidence and we desperately miss Rivers saving us with timely spoils and directions. i like the look of Terlich. He's a goer, but the lack of system and communication made fools of all of them.

Frawley will walk the second he is free to...

Tell me what the average losing margin was for those guys in their 2nd year....

Neeld's is 107 points so far.

Irrelevant. The point is they each had rabid fans and journalists after them and basically learned, developed a list and made their teams a hell of a lot better.

Hawks improved from 14th to 11th in Clarksons' second year.

Richmond went from 15th to 12th in Hardwick's second year.

Carlton went from 11th to 7th in Ratten's second year.

What was your point again?

There's no need to be so aggressive about everything, Stuie.

Good to see you've done some digging, and my point stands. They took very crap teams, and made them slightly less crap. Now, obviously the Blues made the 8 that year, so I take your point partly, but essentially it takes time. Sacking people every few minutes doesn't achieve anything except keep the merry go round going.

The other point you've clearly supported for me is that none of them were sacked after 3 games.

If Frawley wants to go let him - better to have a less talented player who wants to play for Melbourne. But I think there must be more to it. Supposing he does want to go elsewhere, you'd think he'd be trying to create an impression, increase his value to interested clubs. The way he's playing, his value is dropping rapidly.

Makes me think there's more to it - injury perhaps, confidence, struggling with the game plan, depressed by the club's poor form - he's not alone with those issues. I hope he can turn it around, whether or not he's planning on leaving.

I am also critical of the 5 or 6 free kicks WC received inside their forward 50. I can't remember any for us (although my son remembers 1) even when there was a passage of play in the third where there were two blatant free kicks denied. I'll watch it again... but I also noted that WC got an 'ify' free out of the centre to start both the First and Third quarter.

One was against Mitch who was furious. Thought he was going to kill someone the way he through himself in and after siren ran off with umpire giving him a spray. The other may have involved Nate Jones because he also ran beside the umpire saying something.

One other thing, I know it's been done to death, but I nearly cried every time Darling kicked a goal, how stupid are we?

how stupid are you.. do you think Darling would be performing for Melbourne if we had drafted him?

He'd be just another Sylvia Watts Morton

Funny that we got smoked by port and with today's effort and intensity we'd have destroyed them by half time...

Mental fragility as much as lacking a few genuine A graders is our biggest issue right now.

Personally, I don't think it's as simple as throwing in a Judd or Ablett, although they'd certainly help. It's about structures. We have absolutely none.

Think our talls let us down today mostly to be honest.

Frawley, Jamar, Seller, Garland....

Our KPPs got killed by the likes of Kennedy , Darling and Cox.

We need this fixed asap, I think our mids like Grimes, Joneses, Viney ect tried hard and it would've been a real tight match if our talls put in more damn effort.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
