Aaron Davey

Though he faded out in the second half, I thought Davey looked much better. He looked threatening when he claimed possession and kicked some goals reminiscent of his olden days.

Thoughts on Davey?

I'll give him a pass mark. Just. And to be honest, he's about the only one. At the end of the day, it does't matter how well he started, they all ended up not trying.

Being over in the US at the moment reading a small positive, no matter how small, is a nice change.

We should give him the ball as much as possible. The best kick in our team by so far it's not funny. Far from our worst.

He made me pine wistfully for those halcyon days of 2004...until I remembered how we collapsed into an abominable heap that year and lost to none other than Essendon in that gut-wrenching Elimination Final.

FLASH made a comeback tonight, not Aaron Davey as he's been for 2-3 years but FLASH that bloke that excites you when he gets the ball. The bloke who runs hard and tackels harder. I've missed him, I don't know where he's been but I'm sure glad he's back.

Was ok in patches and a nice fluke goal. Still on the soft and unfit side, but not much different to his brother.

Was the best in our impossible forward line as in its impossible to get a kick in. If he was a true footballer and leader he'd be on a half back flank in the trenches.

But for what he can deliver he was ok

Fittest i've seen in 3 years. I was over him after the squib but he seems to be back to some sort of form which is encouraging and was a small glimmer of light this evening. Not sure why he wasn't played at beginning of season. We lack toe and skills by foot, and he at least has that in spades versus most of our other boys.

On the half-back line? You mean like Jack Watts?

Was probably in our top few tonight. Two exciting goals was a huge bonus, our only 2 exciting goals to be honest. Pity is, over the last couple of years he's been very quick to discard after showing good signs and then a bad performance. Unless he goes completely off the rails, he's an important player to have out there.

    REDLEG PRIDE by Meggs

Hump day mid-week footy at the Redlegs home ground is a great opportunity to build on our recent improved competitiveness playing in the red and blue.   The jumper has a few other colours this week with the rainbow Pride flag flying this round to celebrate people from all walks of life coming together, being accepted. AFLW has been a benchmark when it comes to inclusivity and a safe workplace.  The team will run out in a specially designed guernsey for this game and also the following week

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm
