Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

i really feel for Neeld. He had such big visions for this club. he really wanted to change it. Perhaps he isnt the right choice but he has been scuppered by the upper managmeent and the players. he never had a chance. Sad night. very sad night

Yeh, I think there's some truth to that. But you can't change a club overnight, and a first time coach in particular may be the wrong fit.

I haven't seen it yet, but will be looking for it as soon as I can find it. At the end of the day though, If Neeld can't do the job he was hired for, I have no sympathy because I am the lifelong supporter hurting, not him. I will not feel sorry for anyone who makes me feel as sh!t as I do right now, not if they aren't lifelong, heart beats true supporters. Not the players, FD or Admin.

It was as if he realised that he's worked his entire career to become a senior coach and this is the pathetic list he's been handed. His options are try and create a miracle, or watch as his career dies.

I would not want it be in his position. It is the definition of untenable.

I feel terrible for Mark after watching that.

He is obviously putting in 110% and its just not working at all.

The club stinks to the core.

The club may need to support him with counselling after tonight. I'm not joking.

On a human level, that was disturbing.

His beliefs are folding before him eyes

At the start of the presser it was obvious he had been crying. Then his twitch came in when the stress hit. Was hard to watch. Clearly has developed a love for the club and is hurting that what he thought would happen is not. Feel for him but at the same time how can we be worse than last year? even if he is still trying to sort the AFL players from the VFL reserve players. I just cant understand how we are worse.

Errr, no. I don't think he was crying. Don't think that was obvious. He was clearly lost for words and felt very uncomfortable being in the presser. His twitch is involuntary. At one time it looked liked he winked at a journo, but that was also his nerve (as opposed to nervous) twitch thing.

He did take over a team that had won 8 games with only 1 of the expansion teams in the comp, and we went back to 4 last year, and possibly 0 this year with the way we are playing.

No matter what way you dress it up, he is not up to the task. And I think his pregame address confirmed what we all suspected anyway.

Looks like this club has killed another man.

I feel sorry for him, I think this club is so [censored] that no coach could do anything at the moment.

Defeatist. We must identify the problems and not scapegoat. Make everyone accountable.

I don't think Neeld can coach, but I think he's got ordinary assistant coaches and something putrid within the admin and football department. I watched Josh Mahoney walk from the ground at half time. He looked incredibly dejected. It runs through the entire club. The MFC requires a transplant or it will die. Having watched five and now probably six years of this, it is not hyperbole to say that there will be no MFC in five to ten years time if this continues. We require blood. New blood. Non-Melbourne people that have had success elsewhere, at strong football clubs and know how to run a football club. We need role players right across the club. Everyone has a role and they must fulfil it or like any occupation in life, they will be removed.

Rising MFC from obscurity must be the greatest challenge in football, but with our history considered, a prize worth aiming for.

Neeld needs to stay, he cares about this club, and that's the kind of people we need. We DON'T need blokes like Sylvia and Jamar who put in 5%, collect the paycheck and go about the rest of their weeks.

Just watched the Neeld presser and not sure what all the fuss is about!

No tears, not even close.............he was actually quite matter of fact, and appeared strong.............had the usual face twitches which is unavoidable for him, but nothing like tears or a meltdown.

Disagree. For me he was very close to tears. Difficult to watch, but as callous as it sounds, I want to see that from him. I want to see him hurting like we all are. At least he made some moves tonight, instead of sitting on his hands like he did last week. It's not the right move, but he may be gone by the end of round four. My reading of our administration and board is kneejerk. I fear they may send another to the gallows before a contract expires.

Neeld inherited a poor list. He then bought in Couch, Magner

, Seller, Roden, Bynes, Gillies, Dawes,Peterson. Players that were not wanted by other clubs are going to lead the revival?

The most damning quote over the last fortnight is Neeld saying that they trained so well and he doesn't know what happened. How can those I'm charge be so far off the Mark? How are they so incompetent, and while it has been so obvious to many supporters who only have a casual interest those that work full time at the club had no idea going into the season. Most on this forum knew that the team was crap, but the players and coaches seem to have no idea what to expoect, Neeld sema genuinely supprised at where the team is at. Melbourne got smashed all preseason, but the coaches and playing group did not see this coming???

The club was its knees when Neeld came in, and he has killed it. It was so obvious that all of these washed up players was not the way to go, how did the CEO and board sign off on this?????

No will be traded for a fourth round pick

Float him to GWS or GC, see if they bite.

Consensus is that a lot of our players would prosper on other lists.

Well, we haven't got many untouchables... Howe, Jones, Clark, Grimes, Viney, Blease.

I don't think I've missed anyone, but the rest are up for grabs at years end.

And although I feel sorry for Neeld, his money ball approach hasn't really helped him.

How you call Rodan, Byrnes, Dawes, Pederson money ball is beyond me.

We struggled last year with hardness and we need some animals, yet we bring these blokes in and a receiver in Toumpas.

Wouldn't blame Hogan if he has a word to the AFL and tells them he aint playing for such a rabble.

I hope the players watched that and see how he is hurting. As others said he made plenty of moves but a lot of the players were just shell shocked. This will take a lot to turnaround.

No quick fix with this, it goes deeper than the coach and talking about experienced AFL coaches, Neil Craig needs to get greater involvement if he hasn't already

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
