Commentators have the hardest job of anyone, they are working their behinds off trying to find ways to make it sound like there will be some form of contest / something of interest to watch other than a 100+ drubbing in the second half

Mind boggles

Cant fathom this.

Theyd struggle in the magoos on this showing !!!

Jamar...wow. Just wow. Ryder made a mockery of him.

You'd have to think Neeld won't see out the year at this point.

C'mon boys, some respectability needed. By that I mean under 100 points.

How is Jetta not in this team?

He better be next week, such a versatile player.

Gillies, Sellar, Byrnes need to go.

Watts to stay in the forward line.

Kent & Gawn should come in.

Some people are talking about Neeld's pre-game speech. but that style and subdued nature is the norm. go to youtube and search pre-game speeches for quick examples. Pre-game is reminding the players how they should be playing and what to focus on. The fire and brimstone stuff normally appears in the breaks.

Neeld can coach, our players have no confidence but are mostly having a go this week but not up to standard. The bombers are a far better side than port.

The club has a long way to go

I wonder how many posters are at the game. It is bad Jamar needs to be traded, our mids suck, start a brawl, thats what we need an all in fists and all

Well it will be interesting seeing the votes after this, How could it include any Melbourne Midfielder; and the backs well they are just as bad. It really is going to come down to the 6 least worst. Probably the first time a sub will get our best player

We really are poorly coached with zero system. The players are trying but not only are we devoid of skill, there's no purpose with how we play. We're not decisive and our confidence is non existent.

It's quite sad to watch really.

If this was a suburban or country footy game you'd swap the forward line with the backline. Either that or just a straight man on man game. Just do something different.

It just goes to show how difficult it is to step up from being an assistant to the head role.

I actually feel for Neeld in a way - he just hasn't got. The club is always bigger than any individual. The pre-match thing was uncomfortable and let's face it, if we go down by 80+ points then it's going to be discussed ad nauseam.

It would be great to see the team thrown around a little. Lets are. Nope no sub yet, watts forward, jamar starting forward, sellar in the ruck Sylvia on the ball. Viney Sylvia jones in the centre.

We have far to many players that are simply not up to AFL standard, our recruiting has been atrocious before but Neeld has taken it to a new level (low).

All this year will do is suck the heart out of those players that love the club. How long will Nate Jones and Mitch Clark put up with it; Chip already looks as if he's struggling to get any enthusiasm.

Watching it on TV, not live as last week, but I think they are better.

When you are getting smashed in the middle like we are, its a wonder its only 55 points.

Jamar to FF, Mitch to CFW, Sellers into ruck; either that or sub Jamar.

I will give sexual favours for a centre clearance

The fact they made so few changes shows that the Coach hasn't got a clue; how could you give Gillies another game, or make Rodan Sub

Gillies is the only tall backman left with Dunn out, and Essendon play tall. Rodan wasn't sub, he was emergency.

Spencer and Pedersen were the other subs, and hard to see what other mids could have been used for backup. We already have enough (too many?) first-gamers out there. You may not like it, or agree with it, but there's method behind the madness. In any case, even Port supporters thought Rodan made a great sub.

Confidence shot. Murdered in the clearances. But we actually look OK when we get the ball most of the time.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
