No one is going to take this thread seriously WJ. It's a Range Rover poll after all.

Folks, I have no intention of voting on this poll and I understand that it's most likely being treated in light hearted spirit but some of you should have a think about what you're doing here. Punching people in the head is a violent act and we shouldn't condone it.

The thread is straddling the line of unacceptability. Any further and it gets closed down.

Happy to hear other views on this.

Thanks.

Ok, replace "punchable head" with "the person I would most like to..." followed by "throw a shoe at', "throw a cream pie at", "egg", "melvin" etc etc?

Id be very surprised if the tongue-in-cheek nature of the poll is lost on anyone, WJ. The poll title and Mike Tyson pic just adds a bit of harmless shock value and hopefully a bit of comedy to proceedings. As long as there's no nastiness or base abuse surely it's okay to throw a few metaphorical cream pies at the head-wobbling 'elite' of the footy 'industry.

Dees fans deserve a chance to throw a few harmless 'cut lunches' back at some of these people. All in good fun.

WJ i could not agree more. I would support locking the thread. To my mind the thread (and the other one it is based on) is in breach of the Code of Conduct.

Violence against women is heinous and is a huge issues in our society. There have been any number of young men who have been killed or received serious life changing injuries as a result of king hits (and some older blokes - David Hookes being just one tragic example).

This thread may well be jocular in nature but joking about violence trivializes and normalizes it. It help create an environment where violence is acceptable, where it is ok

Forty years ago making racist jokes was fair game (and of course reflective of a racist country) - just joking, if you take offence you're just PC blah blah blah. This is not the case any more and one would hope would no longer be the case with violence. I wonder if people think it is funny to joke about Ricky Nixon and his assault on his ex partner?

If the poll is actually about who is least liked why not make it about who is least liked? Why tie it to violence and allow a forum for people to make stupid jokes about mindless violence?

From someone (me) who has been king hit from behind in a public place, I don't take any offence to the thread. I think it needs to be taken in the spirit of fun that it's mean't to be. It's given me a few good laughs, one of RR's better efforts.

as the head has been declared sacrosanct, i suggest the word "head" in the title be changed to "groin"

that should solve any objections

and to further clarify/appease how about "

"The Most Non-Lethal-Punchable Groin in the AFL"

Still too violent.

How about something a little less offensive, like "Who would you most like Brock McLean to pass AIDS onto?"

PHEW dont want to be included on the list BUT I agree with most of Bin Man comments.

Probably just wouldn't close it down at it does provide an outlet for repressed feelings and may even have some value.

Would prefer a more jocular title like "who would you most like to fart in the general direction of" (thanks Monty Python)if that is the jocular intention of the poll, although even that may offend people.

Or as bin man suggests "who is least liked" as that does seem to be the real intent of the poll.

I've decided to go for the Pie in the Face option - and you can add me as a contender if you think I've spoiled your fun

I do understand completely that there was no malice meant in the original name and that it was all a bit of fun but I think we do have to acknowledge that for victims of violence, particularly against women, punches in the head are not fun.

Of course, The Ox who has a big role to play at the weekend might have something to say about pies in the face but that's what swayed me to the Pie in the Face option in the first place.

If our football team can concentrate its aggression at the football and its opponent on Sunday in the same way that The Ox focused his aggression on that jerk Newman on TFS all those years ago, I just reckon we might win Round One and thereby stick it up some of those critics for who some out of date and off creamy custard on their noggins is well overdue.

Looks OK to me.

You realise that if RR replaces the Mike Tyson pic in the OP with this banana custard pie, it could swing the entire poll in favour of Voldemort.

And if not him then surely his Dad

the conservative nature of the MFC has caused us to lose our extroverted passion, of having a fun natured old fashioned poke at someone.

to put the brakes on the likes of this is to sit quietly in the stands whilst the opposition run all over us.

If you can't stand the passion & irreverence, then don't bother reading this topic.

Put yourself on a self imposed ban of this thread.

Hold on here..... the AFL has firmly stated that there are to be no jokes involved ever in relation to football clubs. I am deeply concerned that everyone who has posted on this thread will cop a 12 month ban and Demonland will cop a $500,000 fine as the organisation that has allowed a joke to be put in place. If Adrian Anderson saw this we'd all be in trouble.... Actually was he on the list - can I vote twice for AA even though he has been already been sent to the Siberian salt mines?

Very surprised at the low vote of Dwayne Russell. Surely there are others who recognize his contribution to all knowing smugness?

Forget his smugness. He gets my vote for his awful, awful, awful commentary.

MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
