Don't know where port got the funds for this helicopter hovering over training for the last 15 minutes but they really could of just come and watched.

Nice to see big maxy gawn back rucking. He's a super important player long term for us

... won't be Port, but it may be linked to the RoEAF...

Where was he aiming to kick it?

Hey, now.

I was at his first ever game at Etihad when, with his first kick he laced out a forward straight out of the middle.

With that kick he tore his quad terribly and was out for months but the point is - it was a good kick.

If he manages to stay relativley free of injury he will be cemented in the 22 by years end.

Thats a big "if"

May I ask how Strauss and Jetta are training, do they look like starting 22?

Thanks for the reports.

For all my reports in this thread to be honest I can't shed too much light on that. Both moved well and kicked well in the full ground drills (2 main ones) and did the rest of the training. But then again so did Terlich. Based on training they wouldn't look out of place but really it's what they've done under pressure in games that will decide it. As I said before Nicholson just ran some laps so he might not be tracking so well. Dunn and Watts looked good.

I think he and Nico are fighting for a similar spot - the run and carry player with poor disposal.

We can only have one

The scientific explanation for this is the torn quadricep altered the trajectory and velocity of the ball.

So you would have neither I take it by that statement........they are both still early in their careers.... game wise...so you think there will be no improvement?

Well I would be very surprised if they developed into players which could play in a finals team. I see Bail as ahead of Nico but than that's just me. I just think a team needs to have structure/role players - you can't have a team of Magners, you need some outside players but not to many or you have no one to win the ball. I can't see where those two fit in, they don't have the skills to be outside players and yet are not inside players.

I think you will find bail actually did his quad in the warm up but because his parents had come down from Bris they put him on for the first bounce!!

How did Evans go? What are everyone's thoughts on his prospects for the year?

When he first started I had high hopes for him. I thought he showed more than Bail and Nichiolson, but he just couldn't get on the park.

I too have high hopes for Evans. He will put pressure on nicho and jetta for a spot in the team.

For what it's worth Dawes and T McDonald spent far more time on the track than Clark, Trengove and Blease.

If I were a betting man I'd say Dawes and McDonald will play V port while Blease will be sub at best. Blease looked good and fast on hb/wing in the drills.

Clark and Trengove to play for Casey.

Viney had a light session.

Byrnes knows how to kick a sausage. Realky want him to kick at least 30 this year.

McKenzie and Nicholson only did a bit of kick to kick while J MacDonald only walked a lap.

Gawn participated in most of training and was the first one on the track.

Training overall was quite good, but a lot of missed targets which is why we'll only win 3-5 games.

I'd put that down to Clark and Trengove coming off a game, while Dawes and McDonald need time on the park - especially if they're to prove their fitness.

I take it you had your crystal ball with you to say that we'll ony win 3-5 games real positive outlook after watching training, I watched it about 12 times, I think we could break even this year.....my crystal ball is a bit more optimistic

Young Dee surprised that you are saying that 'we can't have a team of Magners' when on another post you had him in your starting 22 for round 1 (despite the fact that as a rookie he is ineligible to play).

I like your crystal ball much better. I would be surprised if we only won 3-5 games this year.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
