Ex Dees who fire up after they leave

*** Attention ***

For all those interested, I am having a wager that Stef Martin will touch his hair more than the he touches the pill in tonight's GF.

Will report back after the game with how many touches but I'm going to say at least 15 will be visible from the cameras.

And why not, it's a lovely crop.

I like Moloney's inability to put on defensive pressure and refusal to run hard going the other way......... ahh the memories

His clearance work has been good though, has some good mids around him now to make up for his lack of defence

Think this is an ironic thread after we've signed Clark, Dawes, Rodan, Byrnes, Pedersen, Gillies etc lately... Surely we're expecting them to "fire up"?

For whatever reason, sometimes players just don't click with a new coach, gameplan, requirements, culture etc etc, if they can turn it around at a new club it doesn't mean that player was in the wrong, or the coach played them wrong it just means they've been put in a role that the new team needed and happened to suit their strengths. It was clear last year Moloney didn't have a role that suits the way Neeld wants the team to play, so it was better for him and the team that he move on. I'm less convinced about the Martin and Gysberts moves as they seem more of a gamble, but I'm trusting Neeld and Co and their behind the scenes knowledge on that.

Nothing irritates me more than, players who decide they are going to play well when they join another club.

Perfect example is Moloney whose eftort last year was a disgrace, and now all of a sudden looks a million dollars with Brisbane.

It is frustrating to see Moloney playing well (looks like he has slimmed down, as for Martin he seems to ball watch every contest and then just stand there.

I only watched a little bit of the game because I just couldn't physically watch the 30 free kicks a quater (people don't go to the footy to watch the umpires!)

yep. He walked. Should have done it 12 months earlier.

Silly call WYL. We all would have been disappointed if he walked after a BnF and a fair few Brownlow votes. With the way it went, it was shown he couldn't fit the requirements or role he needed to and he moved on with no questions over him at MFC.

Not a silly call at all sadly. After 186 it was all over for Moloney.

I know you will disagree but it is what it is.

It was mutiny that day.

Agreed Stuie - Neeld is all about defence first

Moloney can't play defence to save his life - it's no suprise he is now in Brisbane. Moloney is a decent offesive player - his brownlow votes support that fact.

He fell out with Neeld and moved on - I have no ill will towards Beamer, sometimes a move is good for everyone

Ahh yes '186' a day that will live in MFC infamy

Let's hope these wrong can righted - Moloney etc all leaving can only be a positive step for our club. Ppl will rightly say people involved are still at the club, but lets take one step at a time before righting all these wrongs.

We can only go forward UH. But i will be watching Beamer closely because he CAN play...he didn't want to for the whole year, and after what happened to Jimmy just before the season began i consider that action a disgrace from someone "who bled Red & Blue"...yeah right.

I started watching at half time where the commentators drew attention to the fact that whilst he had 8 clearances, he also turned the ball over continually by just bombing away once he got his hands on it. Same old Beamer. He might rack up the stats and no doubt will be reborn this year now that he can play on his own terms, but his lack of effectiveness will still be an issue.

In answer to whether I'm still rapt he's gone..absolutely I am.

Hell yes. I've been calling for it for years now. He was a cancer on the club as big as any we've had in years.

you're a fair dinkum [censored]. A cancer? I've never heard more rubbish

Welcome to MFC where we call a BnF a cancer on the club when he wins it.

Regardless of how the ex Dees are performing, I have to say that I'm loving watching Carlton getting a hiding. Jonathan Brown still has it... 5 goals without appearing to be doing much at all.

Other than diving and ducking his way to glory. Seriously sad watching one of the toughest men in the modern era take advantage of these netball-esque rules.

    MEANWHILE by Whispering Jack

… meanwhile, at about the same time that Narrm was putting its feet on the accelerator to obliterate the long-suffering Euro-Yroke combination, I heard someone mention in passing that Kuwarna was leading Waalitj Marawar by a whopping 46 to 1 halfway through the second quarter of their game over in Adelaide. “What is football coming to?” I asked myself.  In front of my eyes, the Demons were smashing it through the midfield, forcing turnovers and getting the footy to their forwards who w

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form
