Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This investigation has become so bloody boring.

In fact, it's always been boring.

Don't say that. You'll have some bright spark counting the number of posts you've made about the subject and claim it as some sort of win against you.

I don't want to have to re-read everything in order to find out, but is there an actual date by which the MFC must respond to the allegations... and if so, what is it (there are only 6 business days left in January)?

And beyond that, is there a time-frame within which the AFL must make their decision as to whether to go ahead and press charges or to drop the whole thing?

Melbourne's response should be a short, single line:

"Dear Vlad. Pursue this matter any further, and we will see you in Court. Have a nice day."

Dear Vlad,

Thank you for the 800 page script you submitted as a fiction crime thriller.

Unfortunately after reviewing it we have to reject it as unconvincing and poorly written.

We have attached a critical analysis from our advisors which you might find useful for future endeavours

We did think however with a little professional cleaning up here and there that your script would be suitable for a comedy novel or possibly a court room drama.

Thanking you for your submission, and we wish you the best. Fiction writing is a very difficult and competitve field but we hope you keep trying

Pretty sure Deegirl alluded to the fact that the strongest evidence had come from 2 former employees and so far she has been pretty much on the money. If this was regarded as not enough to go on and therefore they started looking at matchday moves THEY HAVE GOT NOTHING!

they've got plenty I'm sure, they want nothing I'm even more certain.

Individuals IMO, will take longer to clear.

I like it.

Vlad would love to come to court over the first couple of his retirement years I'm sure.

Like it.

thats what I'm saying. imo. they will deliberately mismanage the investigation to make they're case a weak one.

they aren't trying to damage the League, their trying to build it.

but they want the list management thing to stop & disappear. not hurt us.

Individuals, thats a bit different. I can see them thinking its OK with expending some individuals.

Are we in the clear?

Schwabby apparently given his marching orders?

Well, that's come from one post from someone who claims to have heard it from [edit: a player's] father.

Think I'd need something a bit more solid myself.

It's Jay Clark's turn today - Melbourne Demons indebted to long-suffering supporters.

Ostensibly a story about how "vice-captain Nathan Jones says the team owes it to the club's long-suffering supporter base to improve this year", Clark pushes his way past the influx to the club of recruits and better training standards to inform readers of this incredible scoop:

Melbourne remains the subject of an AFL investigation into allegations that it tanked in 2009, and key officials could face life bans.

The Demons must respond to the league findings by Tuesday.

Earth shattering news indeed and thanks for informing us about this as otherwise we would never have known.

Slightly different angle, but it's arguably bordering on bringing the code into disrepute for a club not to adopt the AFL's methodology in relation to recruitment and the like at any given time.

Clearly, the AFL sets the playing field for the clubs which participate in the competition. The clubs are obliged to respect this.

And, in this regard, the draft pick methodology was designed by the AFL and it has always rewarded clubs that did not do particularly well the season beforehand. It is designed to make the competition an even competition.

I would've thought for a club to unilaterally seek to buck the system and make public statements that it was not buying into the system for whatever reason would embarrass the administrators and would affect the standing of the code. It would also be irresponsible, indeed negligent, to that club's members.

In short, what the hell did the AFL expect the clubs to do?

Various journalists, including in today's Age, keep stating that Melbourne and some of its officials "face charges" in relation to tanking.

Definition of "face charges/counts":

"to be accused officially of committing a crime; have legal charges brought against you as a crime"

It seems premature to be saying in these press articles that the are "facing charges" when at this stage they are only being required to respond to the matters raised in the AFL's investigation.

the article needs to be sold. Whether it is factual or not is not the primary concern.

I'm so glad I've been away from it for nine weeks. I've just started catching up on footy properly in the last week or so, and to be honest, the case isn't any stronger - in fact, in my opinion it's quite possibly weaker due to the departure of AA. The key investigation into those last three minutes of the Richmond game are very interesting, because, well...what if McMahon missed? That's the variable that the AFL absolutely has to take into account in all of this.

There's no smoking gun here. It's a tough sell to convince me there's tanking here.

it almost feels like the AFL & the footy Media, are angry at us, the MFC social media & some at the club, for daring to speak openly about the methods they allow clubs to operate within, under the cover of secrecy, supposedly.

Carltank got off, as did more than half the competition.

Now they want to try to claim it doesn't exist,,,, 'List Management',,, 'List Management',,, 'List Management',,, 'List Management',,, hows that kero, one more? 'List Management',,, hows terry's plan going Kero?

Are they trying to control us from saying what we think & feel about issues they want to impose on our game?

....... how dare we have an input on what takes place with our game, & how its run... we pay our money at the turnstiles, & the merchandise room, & the food stalls, & to the footy record boys, & the VFL games,,,

really, they made a ballsup of it, except for the access to the game via TV, although that has its pitfalls with too much of it hurting the grass roots like VFL.

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n

    TRAINING: Monday 29th April 2024

Demonland Trackwatcher Kev Martin was on hand at Gosch's Paddock for Monday's training session and made the following observations. About 38 to 40  players down at training.  BBB walking laps.  Charlie Spargo still in rehab, doing short run throughs.  Christian Salem has full kit on and doing individual work with a trainer. He is is starting to get into some sprints. I cannot see Andy Moniz-Wakefield out there. Jack Viney and Kade Chandler have broken away from the

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f
