"Tanking"

If Caro was around at least we'd know what was going on.

So are you saying you would like her to be around?

In other words, would you prioritise being more "informed" on the tanking issue by having Caro around over the club suffering more damage to its brand as a result of her biased reporting?

I am happy to sacrifice the "information" she provides so that the club's name isn't dragged deeper into the mud.

I think Caroline Wilson will have an article ready to go when the AFL pronounce judgement. I also believe MFC will have known the outcome before it is announced. In other words whatever is going to happen will be worked out behind the scenes and there will be no legal fight. I dont have sauce on vegetables and dont agree with this process but I bet thats how it will play.

Ahhhhh problem is, other than absolute conjecture and hypothesis, as well as taking the word of people who might not necessarily be 'unbiased', Caro did not have a clue, as to the reality and chose to run with her spurious story, despite that being the case. She has no more upon which she can enlighten the great unwashed.

I think this whole tanking investigation is obvious. Vlad could never seen to be wrong, therefore his statement that tanking doesn't exist in the AFL will always ring in his ears. By milking this investigation out for as long as humanly possible it takes away people like Caroline Wilson from than writing articles saying he's trying to sweep it up the cover. Longer the investigation goes on the more information it appears they're going through but really they're just biding time so it looks like every avenue has been explored.

At the end of the day not guilty will be the verdict.

I'm not spooked by her opinions and I think the rest of the footy world think she is on a vendetta and don't take much notice anyway. I really don't think she has damaged our brand with her reporting and has probably done her own brand more harm. Perhaps that's why she's on holidays!

MFC supporters are too close to this Scoop and I think many are unnecessarily spooked.

She has no more upon which she can enlighten the great unwashed.

We can disagree. I think she has got excellent sources and in the main provided good information.

I've said it all along, this has settlement written all over it.

The club will cop a small sanction - small fine and a loss of draft pick or 2 (which will be replaced with the Sylvia free agency compo, if he leaves at the end of the year). Nothing that will cripple us long term.

No way this ends up in court. The club has too much to lose and too little money to spend.

Why would she have damaged her brand if she has been providing good information from excellent sources?

So she has good information but she has hurt her brand...

WTF?

TimD - I need another appraisal over here...

My appraisal is along the lines that Fan thought he was onto a winner when Caro was spouting off like a oil spigot, and now that he's covered in something that isn't oil he is delicately, and with the dexterity of a Russian gymnast, trying to find someone to buy this composted argument. Hence "Caro's info is good, her sources impeccable" juxtaposed with "her brand is damaged, she has a vendetta."

You honestly believe that if we are hit with losing "a draft pick or two" that it wont end up in court ????

Anything that is aimed directly at the club itself, be it a fine or draft picks and I would think they will fight it in court - if the club doesnt then it is admitting guilt. I would be disappointed if we didnt defend CC an/or CS, but I could see the possibility of them being jettisoned and the MFC taking no further action but I would suspect that we would require wriggle room - ie CC comments were injudicious or CS's meeting was open to misinterpretation. Again, if the two were charged with draft tampering and bringing the game into disrepute and there actions described as "tanking" then I would expect vigorous defense.

I agree with this "nut"......I don't think the club can hang anyone out to dry on this and I think we should back our Admin to the hilt....otherwise who the hell would want to work for us in the future if we drop people at the slightest bump in the road.....I think it's a case of one in all in....I would be so pizzed if we don't....

Never understand why people on here think CW is in any trouble.

95% of football fans think she is exposing the MFC as tankers

That will not change no matter what happens over the next few weeks.

So a majority of Dees fans dislike her

Don't think she is lying awake at night worrying about MFC supporters

Absolutely.

Talk to the fan on the street and she is a crusader of 'truth' against the Bloated One.

Any admission of guilt will cripple us; as I think 'rpfc' posted it would mean the end of gaming licences and in effect the Bentleigh club.

It's not going to happen and we're not in a position to give up any draft picks. You wouldn't want your future riding on free agency compo either.

That doesn't sound like a settlement to me.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    REDEEM by Meggs

How will Mick Stinear and his dwindling list of fit and available Demons respond to last week’s 65-point capitulation to the Bombers, the team’s biggest loss in history?   As a minimum he will expect genuine effort from all of his players when Melbourne takes on the GWS Giants at Ikon Park this Thursday.  Happily, the ground remains a favourite Melbourne venue of players and spectators alike and will provide an opportunity for the Demons to redeem themselves. Injuries to star play

    EASYBEATS by Meggs

A beautiful sunny Friday afternoon, with a light breeze and a strong Windy Hill crowd set the scene, inviting one team to seize the day and take the important four points on offer. For the Demons it was not a good Friday, easily beaten by an all-time largest losing margin of 65 points.   Essendon threw themselves into action today, winning most of the contests and had three early goals with Daria Bannister on fire.  In contrast the Demons were dropping marks, hesitant in close and comm

    DEFUSE THE BOMBERS by Meggs

Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill. A first-time venue for the Melbourne AFLW team, this should be a familiar suburban, windy, footy environment for the players.   Essendon were brave and competitive last week against ladder leader Adelaide at Sturt’s home ground. A familiar name, Maddison Gay, was the Bombers best player with

    BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out
