Fremantle's just grabbed Jack with pick 8 in the PSD. What now?

You don't take a player for revenge, you do it because he fills a need and you rate him.

Disappointing.

Absolutely, but we may have removed any gentlemanly reluctance on thier part to shaft us with the events of last year.

And they had a pick to use before we did, thems the brakes.

Some seem to think we will chase a small forward so that is basically one of the northern territory kids

I really doubt we will add to the mature age brigade seeing as we already have Magner still on the Rookie List

Will be interesting and will look forward to Venom Denham making absurd and negative remarks no matter who we pick

Don't think it will be only Monsieur Denham .... he will always find a few mates on this board, who bag the club whatever decisions they make.

But, FWIW, I agree that they may punt on an indigenous quick small forward.

Taken by Freo at pick 8 in the PSD.

Revenge for Mitch?

Exactly what I thought

Or maybe just focusing on building a list with talented players, with scant regard for what plans other clubs may have?

Not sure how he'd go as a forward though.

Time for Gawn to prove some potential. Relying on the best rookie ruckman to come along and save our backsides is a concern although I admit these stories do eventuate.

Currently I relate Max Gawn to knee injuries and comedy.

I recall we rated Heath Hocking too but the Bombers rookied him before we had the chance. These things happen.

Aint that the truth.

Right know I rate him 4th or 5th in line for the main gig.

Thinks can change quickly.

But two knee reco's before you are 20 is not a good start.

Maxy may never play another game for the dees but could still be the most influential player of the decade.

It took me a few seconds but I and many others are with you on that.

What we should have done was draft Jack Hannath in the National Draft and rookied Matt Jones...

It hasn't taken long for some armchair amateur experts to outthink our professional recruiters...but I guess it always happens.

Ah, ain't hindsight wonderful. Remind me again how many clubs overlooked James Hird and Chris Grant, not just once but multiple times.

PS By the way, good luck to Jack at his new club.

Yes it is a bit of a shame how that happened. The kid was genuinely upset that he did not join us after bonding over the last few weeks.

Interesting that the boys got around him and wished him all the best.

This is a healthy culture - the players are responding and working hard.

Mark Neeld is putting so many good structures into place and I can't wait for 2013.

Incidentally, Stef Martin will play 5 or 6 games with Lions before he gets dropped to the QAFL. Scoop.

Not happy. I really hope nobody (fans that is) takes it out on the kid if he plays against us next year. Sounds like he was shattered not to be coming to the Dees, but he's got a spot on a primary list, so best of luck to him. It has to be pretty hard to have his plans changed like that with no warning.

OK, I'm starting to think you might be a [censored] bloke, which isn't part of a healthy culture.

Sorry diesel, won't bite, won't get involved with your belittling comment.

You want to talk footy? Stef Martin was a poor player on a poor list that got cheap games.

Agree 100%. It is not as if he chose to "escape a tanking club" for more money to go to.......LOL!!!

Don't think anyone would take it out on him, he was never officially a MFC player. More likely people will feel sorry for him having to wear purple, poor guy. He looked devastated on the AFL website after learning he had to go to Freo.

.... Too late

One little spew, yet so much goodness as a result

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
