Clearly the d...ckh....d factor didn't work in his favour but the kid is reputed to be immensely talented. This is not Dan Connors we're talking about.

Should we consider rookie-ing him or picking him up in the PSD?

Worth consideration ...

if he is so talented that he was considered a top 15 pick then his off-field issues must be pretty worrying. The fact that every club didn't want a bar of him in all of the 80 odd picks i think speaks volumes!

What has the kid done that is so bad. On talent he should be a top 10 pick from what I have read. I can understand him falling a bit, but not to be picked up amazes me.

Would I take the punt and rookie him? Hell yes. Sure I only have a small idea of the whole picture, but on risk versus reward, I would do it in a heartbeat.

What's he done that's so good? MFC supporters know better than any others that talent isn't enough and I'm talking about young blokes who haven't been kicked out of the AIS academy. The fact that 18 clubs passed multiple opportunities to get him tells me all I need to know.

He was on the back of the west Australian today smoking a ciggy with a can of EB in his hand

I saw that picture posted yesterday, nice look that and just before the draft he must have a death wish. Sometimes you just have to walk away from some kids, Richmond tried to straighten out Troy Taylor but he just didn't want it enough.

he is an amazing talent and someone i think would be worth the risk. set him up with a good mentor such as rodan, davey or even dawesy and he may be able to turn his life around and become a great player. the change in scenery may also remove him from previous distractions, allowing him to focus more on his football

He has a terrible attitude. If you can find the link to his instagram account, you will see countless photos of him smoking, getting [censored], and worse... Anyone who is partying like that clearly doesn't have the dedication and desire to knuckle down to be a professional athlete. I'm guessing if that's what the public can see, imagine what the recruiters found when they interviewed him and did background research about him. He is certainly a talented footballer, but no club would take a risk on someone with an attitude like that. He will need to knuckle down and earn his way from here if he really wants to play football.

Cross-post from another thread as to why he wasn't drafted. Is it possible to have drug strikes before you're even drafted?

You can't really make someone want it though. And if Garlett really did want to make a career out of footy, he wouldn't do stupid things like pose for that photo.

we should rookie list him.

Get Neeldy down his throat.

He might potentially be worth the risk..

although we dont usually do great with Aboriginals (wona, Jurrah), granted Wona was a different issue. Just cant secure the good ones.

Lets give him a go i think

Garlett is a good football player.

Garlett is not a professional athlete.

is it possible to work someone into becoming one?

personally i think it is, but what do you think?

It's not an issue of possibility, more an issue of whether it is probable and at what odds.

If we were better established, stronger and stable then 'maybe', but we are not

projects we just don't need at the moment

No chance. Have a look at the bigfooty thread.

No one will pick him up after he posted photos of himself on Instagram with his eye popping out of his head titled #cooked.

I'm tipping #cooked means high on drugs.

AFL career = over before it started

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
