First Delistings Announced

Could've traded Petterd maybe? He'll get picked up by someone and play some good football.

Also surprised Leigh Williams was cut.

Good to see the other delistings. No messing around. High draft pick or rookie, if you don't perform you are gone.

Only suprised about Sheahan (which we already knew last week) and Williams.

Don't agree with Ricky though.

Guest José Mourinho

For now Bartram, Dunn, Sellar, Strauss, Macdonald, Jetta, Davis, Spencer, Bail all remain.

I expect Davis and Macdonald to go from this list later, at a minimum.

Whether we can entice Jacobs or not will have an impact.

Surprised we have held on to Bartram, Joel Mac & Davis.... would have preferred to loose one of them and keep Cook.

Will be interesting to see if Cook, Bate, Petterd get picked up....

So this leaves us with 4 free spots on the list? Which means probably use pick 4, 49, 53 & either upgrade a rookie or look at PSD ?

I find it amazing that couldn't trade Bate or Petterd.

Oh well, even though some of these players including Gysberts and Morton may go on to do well at other clubs, I think we will be better for it in the long run.

They obviously have a plan, and plan to use alot of those late draft picks.

My bet is they will continue to recruit experienced hardened bodies from leagues all over Australia.

Fourteen changes including two rookies. Thats about a third.

Good job Melbourne, can't say there are any surprises.

Ricky, Stef and JG were stiff.

Men are men, boys are boys.

It's a cruel world.

Ricky went from big debut to big disappointment. He had 2 tricks, he was hard and a good contested mark. That's it. He did absolutely nothing in the games that weren't his few stand-out games. I understand he was a bit of a fan favourite, but to be surprised that he's delisted, really? And we couldn't trade him because no one would give up anything for him, Morton got an 88 and Ricky isn't in Morton's league.

Glad Bennell is gone, thought he might get a free pass being injured.

Bit surprised with Sheehan, like the way he moves. But we actually have AFL level talls now, suppose there's no need for all the speculative ones.

That's 14 in total including 3 rookies making 12 off the primary list.

The rumours were very accurate.

People were shocked at my bold predictions DC.

Next year I predict a huge comeback for pastels and prints.

I would have thought the crap season we had deserved nothing less.

Davey could have been added if he did not have another expensive year left on his contract.

No surprises and no real losses.

Lets hope we made the right calls on these players.

Not surprised at all Couch and Davis were kept. Couch won the b&f at Casey and Davis won the Respect Earner award. Also no surprise Petterd got the axe, in the few Casey games I saw his attitude was poor.

It's about the culture.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
