  7. N. Jetta

I don't know why you're limiting it to Collingwood.

I reckon Bate would still get a run at the kennel as they are still shyte in the forward line.

Bennell would probably excel at WCE or Sydney - I still wow at his skills when the planets line up and he gets a touch.

I agree with some of the above.

I am hugely disappointed in Ro Bail. There is a side to his game that is at time breathtaking but he has had a lot of games in two years and he still can't kick. His kicking today when there was no pressure was embarrassing to him and to the supporters.

Dunn will be kept because he plays a role and has a red hot go. He was OK today.

Magner is interesting. He needs a rest but not delisting.

Nev Jetta is a keeper. Let him get fit and have a decent preseason and see what he can do.

Keep Spencer. At times today his 2nd efforts were great. He is learning.

Agree with all but Moloney(would be in most teams best 22 with a lot more support will be a handy player where ever he ends up) Fitzpatrick Still to early to tell and Spencer thought he was ok for his 9th game. Also remember he was rushed back from a knee injury.

Bail was disgraceful today. Sounds harsh but he was so poor. Bennel is plain useless. Bate was bate today, ok in a few passages but can't mark over his head and is slow. Dunn i think he has been good down back just to many brain fades.

Simon Buckley is getting a game with the Filth reasonably regularly. Not setting the world on fire, but they are developing him. Looks much fitter and more confident than when with us.

At the moment, we couldn't even develop a bad case of jock itch.

Although his horrible turnover last night shows he would still get a game with us.

I just want us to start playing the kids- seeing as finals is and has been out of the equation for some time now- what the f are we doing faffing about playing players that clearly aren't apart of a successful team going forward?!

Cook, Davis, Tynan, Couch, Jetta, Tynan, Gysberts- IN IMMEDIATELY (or when deemed match fit)

Leave Spencer and Martin in for the rest of the year, Jamar can take a rest and get himself cherry rip for 2013.

Bate, Bennell, Bail, Dunn, McDonald, Moloney- Thank you for your services- you are no longer required.

Time to get serious and start getting games into the next generation, because we need a rebuild and if we are serious about seeing who can cut the mustard, we MUST start next week!!

How many games does it take to definitively know if a player isn't going to make it? Surely Bennell is past that now. I'd argue Bail has had enough chances, I think Moloney has been found out to be a one trick pony in a game where you need to be multifaceted.

By the way, I would like to see Morton back in the team. Never thought I'd say that but I did see improvements bar the occasional momentum killing turn-over. Why isn't he afforded the same kind of continuity many of our other spuds have been given?

I just don't know where MFC selection committee's heads are at. Too conservative for my liking, and it obviously isn't working out!

BTW- any talk of McKenzie being deadwood is totally out of order morons! Would have him in the trenches with me anyday of the week! Rant over

IMO, Morton should never have been dropped. We were competitive when he was in. As soon as he gets dropped, we "miraculously" turn into a slow, plodding team that can't hit targets. That's because one of our best runners is gone. Now, I'm not saying that dropping Morton is the only thing that's made us worse, but it sure hasn't helped us (or him) get any better.

BRING BACK MORTON!!!

There will be lot's of work come trade week and the draft.

Agree with all of these with maybe just 3 exceptions.

Jetta is quick and good in traffic. If he can get his kicking right and stay injury free, I'd love to see what he can do. I rate his tackling.

Moloney deserves one more year to come good. This is a flat year for sure but I think he can get back to his best. We have nothing to replace him with.

Evans... Not sure about him. Need to see more. Give him a go.

The rest? Goodbye. The Magner experiment has failed. And add Morton to the list.

Agree fully about Jetta & Evans.

I think the same applies to Fitzpatrick as applies to Evans, we haven't seen enough of him to know because of his injuries & illnesses.

I don't know what the Magner experiment is any more. I thought we got him as a clearance specialist. He showed every sign of being that, so ever since, he's been played as a defensive forward.

Moloney has had every chance this year. And totally disagree about Morton.

And there have to be at least question marks against Petterd (as much as I like him), Davey (ditto) & MacDonald.

It may only take the addition of 1-3 quality players to make these guys look so much better. The best teams have a couple of aces that make otherwise middle of the road players look good ( enough ). I think these guys will be stuffed into the cannon based on roles and fit. That said, any or all of these guys could be gone.

Morton is apparently a smart bloke and clearly had ability. A really curious case. I think we could do with a decent midfield coach - would love to see them approach Cameron Ling. Someone with real gravitas.

I don't know much about Brian Royal but our midfield is rubbish. Maybe it's just the cattle.

So much dead wood.

Spencer showed something today (he's showed something well before Jamar ever showed anything), while even though Magner is slow and lacks decent disposal, at least he plays for the jumper. More than could be said for quite a few others.

Agree with the rest however. I'd add question marks next to Bartram, Petterd, Morton and Sylvia. The latter three I'd seek a trade and see what we can get.

    GETAWAY by Meggs

Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval. It promises to be keenly contested, though Fremantle is the bookies clear favourite.  If we lose, finals could be remoter than Rottnest Island especially following on from the Dees 50-point dismantlement by North Melbourne last Sunday.  There are 8 remaining matches, over the next 7 weeks.  To Meggs’

    DRUBBING by Meggs

With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    GARNER STRENGTH by Meggs

In keeping with our tough draw theme, Week 3 sees Melbourne take on flag favourites, North Melbourne, at Casey Fields this Sunday at 1:05pm.  The weather forecast looks dry, a coolish 14 degrees and will be characteristically gusty.  Remember when Casey Fields was considered our fortress?  The Demons have lost two of their past three matches at the Field of Dreams, so opposition teams commute down the Princes Highway with more optimism these days.  The Dees held the highe

    ALLY’S FIELDS by Meggs

It was a sunny morning at Casey Fields, as Demon supporters young and old formed a guard of honour for fan favourite and 50-gamer Alyssa Bannan.  Banno’s banner stated the speedster was the ‘fastest 50 games’ by an AFLW player ever.   For Dees supporters, today was not our day and unfortunately not for Banno either. A couple of opportunities emerged for our number 6 but alas there was no sizzle.   Brisbane atoned for last week’s record loss to North Melbourne, comprehensively out

    GOOD MORNING by Meggs

If you are driving or training it to Cranbourne on Saturday, don’t forget to set your alarm clock. The Melbourne Demons play the reigning premiers Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields this Saturday, with the bounce of the ball at 11:05am.  Yes, that’s AM.   The AFLW fixture shows deference to the AFL men’s finals games.  So, for the men it’s good afternoon and good evening and for the women it’s good morning.     The Lions were wounded last week by 44 points, their highest ever los

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals. They brought tremendous forward half pressure, and our newly renovated defensive unit looked shaky.

    REMATCH by Meggs

The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm. Our last game of 2023 was an agonisingly close 5-point semi-final loss to Geelong, and we look forward to Melbourne turning the tables this week. Practice match form was scratchy for both teams with the Demons losing practice matches to Carlton and Port Adelaide, while the Cats beat Collingwood but then lost to Essendo

It’s been hard to miss the seismic global momentum happening in Women’s sport of late. WNBA basketball rookie sensation Caitlin Clark has almost single-handedly elevated her Indiana Fever team to unprecedented viewership, attendances and playoffs in the USA.   Our female Aussie Paris 2024 Olympians won 13 out of Australia’s all-time record 18 gol

    EPILOGUE by Whispering Jack

I sit huddled in near darkness, the only light coming through flickering embers in a damp fireplace, the room in total silence after the thunderstorm died. I wonder if they bothered to restart the game.  No point really. It was over before it started. The team’s five star generals in defence and midfield ruled out of the fray, a few others missing in action against superior enemy firepower and too few left to fly the flag for the field marshal defiantly leading his outnumbered army int
