Demonland Player of the Year - Round 13

6- Jones: As usual one of our best players. I think he's been in my top 6 every week.

5- McDonald: Should get a Rising Star nomination this week, he played a fantastic game.

4- Watts: Composed and looking every bit like a star in the making.

3- Sylvia: His best performance this season, but can he back it up?

2- Rivers: 4 goals from an unfamiliar position; took over Clark's role perfectly after he was subbed out.

1- Clark: One of the best quarters of football I have seen by a Demon in several seasons. Hopefully he'll be back in next week.

6. Jones

5. Watts

4. Sylvia

3. Clark

2. Grimes

1. Dunn

Apologies to McDonald who just misses out. Had a good game overall but also butchered the ball numerous times which fortunately wasn't too costly, but could've been against better opposition. Other honourable mentions to Rivers, Sellar, Blease and Bate.

6. Jones. A couple of amazing brain fades but a great game of footy.

5. Grimes. We have waited to see a full season from him, and he is geniune class and strength.

4. Watts. A couple of howling turnovers but a strong game. Contested marking, the whole thing. And his passing... sublime.

3. Rivers. He was really enjoying himself.

2. McDonald. How good is he becoming. More than a few handling/fumbling errors or he could have earnt 5 points.

1. Clark

6 - Jones - Keeps on keeping on.

5 - McDonald - If there's no Rising Star, there's no justice.

4 - Grimes - Midfield is his position. Lock it in.

3 - Watts - Some excellent defensive marks, needs that confidence heading into the future.

2 - Clark - If he'd stayed on the field for the whole game, would probably have been BOG.

1 - Rivers - Loving his forays up forward.

6- Jones- Gave Scully a couple of bumps early which foreboded the rest of his game, hard at it, burst through packs, led our clearances, surely will be B&F this year

5- Clark- In his half on the field, not only did he kick 4 but he was a force inside 50, his 4 goals in the first quarter portrayed his beautiful set shot kicking

4- Watts- As comfortable as I've seen him, and that play where he did that beautiful kick inside 50 was spectacular

3- Rivers- Looks like he can be a permanent forward, very strong mark and his kicking for goal is better than I thought

2. Grimes- Another good game with plenty of run

1. Sylvia- 2 goals and 23 possessions, his best game of the year. He just needs to do it against better teams

McDonald just misses out, he was very hard at it and roamed around the back of the play, but just needs to be cleaner. Davey is worth a mention cause he had a good second half

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
