Fair enough... but you would imagine that players like Scarlett or Mooney would know of what Cam Ling is capable of.... otherwise why mention it in the media ?

I think it was Scarlett - I heard it too. It's a decent enough endorsement for me. While Lingy isn't guaranteed to be a gun coach just because of his playing credentials, you'd be knocking the door down for an interview. The other issue is he's building himself a bit of a business empire - more than enough to keep him occupied.

Now I'm feeling foolish.

But my central tenet still stands. People shouldn't go backwards with their careers.

It happens all the time. Reload, have another crack or just be a top assistant.

I would welcome Bails back as an assistant in a few years. He is a smart man.

Well if Ratts left the Poos, perhaps Ling would be on the senior radar there. If he's that good, why not?

Doesn't have the assistant stepping stone yet, but he's fresh out of a very successful club in which he was premiership captain in his final year.

IF... The Blues finish outside the 8, is there a chance he might get the flick? Club going backwards and all of that. They have a history of cutting what they perceive as their losses.

KB on SEN this morning has them finishing 9 or 10, for what his opinion is worth. Not the easiest run home to the finals.

Should we have a go at getting him back as midfield coach (and p!ss off Brian Royal) if he's available?

I liked very much what he did for us previously.

Comments?

He could take over from Neeld.

Is Ratts leaving the sinking ship?

Yeh we'd welcome him back, but not going to happen.... you usually don't go back to your old employer for your old job back...

The club is a lot different now. I would be happy to see the Rat back.

Why not? Seems to me the only reason he left in the first place was because his beloved Blues wanted him back and offered him a job. Now that they have shown him the door, and he has stated he wants to get another coaching gig, I reckon he could do worse that join Neeld's coaching panel...!

I, for one, would love to have him back.

Heard him at the Press conference this morning.

said he was a"Career Coach" and would be around in the future.

Also said he valued his contact with Parkin over the years.

Guess who is the chief advisor at Port re the new coach

I think he is a monty to coach Port Adelaide

He will not be at the Dees in the near future.

Fair enough, but Adelaide is a hole. Who'd wanna live there?

And Port eats its own. Taking them on as an outsider would be doubly fraught.

If he did not want that entire basket case then I'd be happy if he took on part of our basket case since I remember him having our mids firing like they never have since.

On the field they are a way better basket than the MFC pitmaster.

He wants the big job not an assistant at a poor club.

Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
