WINNER: Goose of the Year ... David King

When people move out of actual football roles and into the media, they take up a very different role. All of us should remember that the commentary viewpoint is inevitably different from the participant viewpoint.

101 in media relations: never upset the media, give them something to talk about and give them respect, it will be returned.

Tell me then ... in what way did Mark Neeld 'upset' or 'disrespect' David King that would prompt the latter to go ahead and spout such drivel?

Interested to hear more of your '101' theories.

With all due respect, his team is 1-9.

Criticisms of his ability to coach and his decisions are one thing.

Saying it was the wrong decision to ever hire him is another.

Hardwick provides the perfect example. Two years ago Richmond was 0-9. Now, Hardwick has moulded them into a team that is pushing for the finals. The point being that 0-9 does not equal 'bad decision to hire the coach'.

Exactly. Criticize all you want but to publicly call for someone's head after nine games in the driver's seat is just lunacy.

Hardnut above talks about 'respect'. Well King showed a total lack of it with his comments IMO and deserves to be roundly pilloried for it.

So do posters on here who said much the same.

Must add Luke Darcy to the list. Not just did he flip flop during the game on who will win claiming he called it... now he is dishing it up to Neeld for not being emotive enough in the presser...

Let it go!!

I am sure he bagged him for being too emotive earlier this year also. Major tool.

And if Neeld had of done the after match presser smiling, happy and joking with reporters some other media hack would have criticized him for being too relaxed. You can't win

I am still trying to get over Matthews rating Ben Hudson over Clarke comment. This guy is an absolute legend of the game and even he comes out with utter tosh. The 4th estate need to have a good, long, hard look at themselves

David King seemed unrepentant on his lil' Ask the Expert: How to fix Blues

12:10

Comment From Guest Carlton have been badly overrated by our sensationalist and fickle media. Speaking of which, what did you make of Melbourne on Friday night kingy ;-) Still think Neeld should get the axe? The players seem to be reposnding to him. A weeks a long time in footy.

12:11

Kingy: thanks Guest, i still stick by what I say, if Essendon hadn't have made the calamitous inside 50 mistakes would you be still writing your comment?

Not that it matters much anymore, we know he's a fraud. And on top of that the Roos have well and truly taken the focus off us with their CEO quitting today.

When you are a journalist you should give credits to where its due. Melbourne won, at least give us credit for win than crying about Essendon losing, Being bit of a cry baby perhaps?

The problem is, until people stop reading / watching it all, the market will only get more saturated with opinion pieces and "expert analysis" by ex-players and any other bloke who reckons he knows what he’s talking about.

I can’t believe Fox can have so many programmes purely on Footy. When you think about it, it’s no real surprise that you get rubbish journalism or articles based on a hunch rather than fact, when the bulk of the newsworthy stuff takes place over the weekend leaving an entire week for speculation and innuendo

I don't mind u ( or anybody else) slamming on David King but he is a genuine rocket scientist compared to Mark Robinson who, by comparison, escapes the kicking he deserves.

by Rocket , are you referring to the those wonderful little toys of yore, loaded with caps, thrown in the air .......... yep rocketry at its best.

Have a listen to you lot. Relax and get over what he said, your making it bigger then it ever was. We are 1-9 and you are all having a crack at him as if all our issues have been solved, but we are still a bad team.

There's a difference between a 'bad side' and the level of ineptitude that King claimed existed. Not denying we are a bad side, but the massive exaggeration King put on his comments implied we belong in the VAFA if at all.

Whose doing this? I just think the guy's an idiot in general and am taking some solace in a win coming the week after his inane comments about Neeld. The win itself has no baring on my criticism of him.

Same, I think he has no idea. He decided on the Friday night after his stupid comments to back them up with facts. No facts just lack of homework as usual, for one he said only 4 players on the list had changed under Neeld and 11 under Hardwicke. Well I'm not sure about Hardwicke but I know there were 8 changes to our list, I also know that under a compromised draft Neeld couldn't just empty our the list last year with GWS taking the cream. Kept going on about recruiting a 25 year old in Clark, I know it's not a big deal but he is 24. Facts, I'm only dealing in facts says King

What a drop kick.

I'd like him to name one coach who's cleaned out the list before his first season. I can't think of any.

Malcolm Blight axed at least 4 Crows before he set foot in the place.

Wanted them gone before he even got there.

Gerard Healy deserves a mention for claiming none of our young players would re-sign. GFS Gerard you 80's turncoat!

If Healy said that his brother should punch him in the face.

LIVE AND LET DIE by Meggs

The Demons’ impressive late season charge to finals will most likely come unstuck this Saturday evening when the Bombers blow up the also-ran Blues in the Ikon Park double-header.   To mangle McCartney, what does it matter to ya? To have any chance to play next week Narrm has got a job to do and needs to do it well.  We’ve got to give the Pie sheilas hell, say live and let die! Sadly, had to wrap up a great career in midstream on the back of multiple concussions which culminated in the Maynard hit in the 2023 Qualifying Final.
