Probably a silly call but I am certainly in the same group who can see this kids talent but am concerned about his lack of desire to put his body on the line.

He looked scared of Bootsma in the third quarter, and Bootsma is about 45kg.

He's buggered like the rest of the list. Post bye freshen up and 5-6 wins will follow

I only caught the last quarter on TV yesterday, but thats how I summed it up. Some really tired boys out there. Maybe they are being trained harder than normal during the week or our fitness is still behind where it needs to be (or both) but a lot of the players were out on their feet.

We definetely have an easier draw in the 2nd half of the year and perhaps with a rest and some confidence from a win or two we might see the ship sailing in the right direction.

5-6 wins? Not sure if we can beat anyone other than GWS and GCS, and even those I'm not 100%. Time will tell.

if some think watts won't be playing in 2 years then I suggest that the rest of the melbourne team bar clarke blease and a couple of others won't be either...absolute rot

I don't understand why anyone would write a 'making the call', 'he won't make it' type of post.

More big noting themselves about their so-called predictive ability than making any useful contribution to a discussion.

Pity our fans like to make themselves look so clueless.

Why join the rest of the country on his back instead of being the ones who support him

Ridicolous call, stupid thread

The general feeling at the club from people who play in the same golf club as a few of the players is that Jack is carrying a lot of the load and sheltering others from criticism.

he gets more ball than many so errors are more likely just because he has more chances to make them. There are moments where i admit I cringe and it annoys me that everytime he shows some great composure or decision making he will go and do something that makes you wonder. But he is getting the ball and as others have said that puts him in front of others.

Therein lies the problem at the club, making Watts the main problem week in week out when there much bigger ones out there. Neelds first week at the club he mentioned Watts despite Jack ending the year our best player and having his break out season.

Why not support Jack and get behind him and focus on the real problems in our playing group rather than going with the flow of the media. Why does he get dropped when Sellar and Dunn get chance after chance in our jumper

The club doesn't make Watts the main problem, that's just the supporters. I haven't seen anything from the club in the press at all about Watts. As for why does he get dropped - what do you mean? He got dropped once, and that was when he was the only one in the team that didn't lay a single tackle; that had to happen. Other than that I'd say the club has more than backed him in.

That Sellar and Dunn keep getting games (both have been left out of the side at least once as well, by the way) - that's a separate issue. Sellar out of necessity, and Dunn out of something that I haven't figured out yet.

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
