I really dont expect Nev to get a contract extension

IMO he is a handy player without being damaging

Not in our best 30

Predict he will end up playing WAFL football in 2013

Doubt he will attract another AFL clubs interest

I think your summary is correct.

I am disappointed for Nev, I thought he was showing some promise during training & could have been handy as a small forward.

He has plenty of football ahead of him .I'd like him in my best 22 .Injuries are part of footy .Don't write the kid off yet .He has barely started .

One of our best tacklers, with Jordie and Bartram.

Unfortunately those three players are all C graders and we need to make way for some stars.

Posted

Might be worth re-rooking, assuming Magner gets elevated, and some other rookies get the arse.

But honestly, spots are tight on the list, and now with the compensation picks activated, you'd think a minimum of 4 list changes coming up.

Poor kid, really rotten luck.

From one clumsy injury-prone human to another, I feel for him!

Posted

So now that Nev is on the LTI list we have the room to upgrage 3 more rookies.

Who do you guys think are the front rummers for the spots?

I'm thinking Nicholson, Couch & Lawrence (seeing as we need a crumber).

I'd also like to see how Williams goes once he's over his back injury. His pre-season training form sounded impressive before he got injured.

I said at the end of last season that I thought the jury was still out on Nev's future. Sadly, it has just become much tougher for him.

Looks bleak to me hard to impress when you are on the LTI list prior to the first game.

Jai Sheahan looked very promising in Casey's last practise match. Played at FB and took some very impressive marks and was in our best players

Not sure if Lawrence would be considered. Picked for Casey 2nds this weekend. He may be a victim of a quota (if there is one, ie, a limit on the number of MFC players allowed), but it still suggests he's a long way off.

Lawrence hasn't even played one game in the seniors, even in the NAB cup.

I still have no idea why so many people rate him and suggest for him to be elevated. I am not even sure if he has even ever gotten multiple goals for Casey in a game before.

Seems like alot of people on this forum want to just elevate players for the sake of filling our list.

If there is not a need to elevate a player then they shouldn't do it as I am pretty sure non rookies get paid more. Not just that but it would also mean one extra player to de-list at the end of the season.

I would much rather keep a spot or 2 on the list free to if say alot of our back men end up injured, we have space to bring in someone much more appropriate to fill the gap.

This is the reason that he's listed as the possible third upgrade.

People seem to rate him....plus we have a need for that type of player.

Stupider things can happen, look at Harry Cunningham surplus to requirements at GWS now playing for sydney all from pick 93 in last years rookie draft.

This is just a discussion on who may be elevated. I'm not saying that we must elevate all 3.

Rookies go back to the rookie list at the end of the season...it has nothing to do with main list management or having to delist an extra player.

A spot only needs to open up on the main list if said player is to be promoted to the senior list for the next afl season. This happens during the draft period.

I would much rather keep a spot or 2 on the list free to if say alot of our back men end up injured, we have space to bring in someone much more appropriate to fill the gap.

Agree, if there is no need to elevate a rookie, then don't.

If there is a need, then do.

This kid can play a bit, unlucky to fall through the draft, lucky for us to pick him up as a rookie but still a skinny tall at this stage. Be interesting to watch him over the next season or so.

He has good tattoos-which is a sign of his enormous ability .

Nev can chase, harras and hold it in our forward line. What is wrong ith some of you!! Not best 22 but handy to keep on list for sure

Nev I think can do more than that. When he gets the ball he is very good at picking the best option and creating something. Alos, people say he is slow; but I can't remember him ever being caught with the ball, and his first three steps off the mark are very quick and also evasive. I like him.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
