The AFL using it at their discretion....i don't like the sound of that at all....just gives them more control...

But then i didn't like the priority pick either..

The Answer is to stay further up the ladder and strive to be good....Waiting for handouts is a sure way to die.

Perish the thought - at Vlad's discretion !!

Such an honourable and open minded man - not.

Surely Port deserve one if they have an awful season. Stuck at the bottom through two compromised drafts as the two new clubs pick up all the guns.

Agree, however I suspect that they would appreciate the AFL pouring in a couple of million dollars even more. Given the development that is now required to get the best out of young players a priority draft pick alone is not going to change the fortunes of a financially struggling club. MFC being a good example where debt demo, sorting our training facilities and development systems will have a greater bearing on our success than picking up Tom Scully (aka two draft concessions) will have...

"Anderson said a formula would be developed that will take into account such factors as a club’s premiership points over a period of years (with greater weight to recent seasons), its percentage over a period of years as another indication of on-field competitiveness (with greater weight to recent seasons), any finals appearances in recent seasons, any premierships in recent seasons and club injury rates in each relevant season."

So they are going to give a formula rather than use the discretion of the commission. Sounds like progress to me. I don't know what the outrage is based on.

Which club is most often represented in this list?

Nick Riewoldt (2000), Luke Hodge (2001), Adam Cooney (2003), Brett Deledio (2004), Marc Murphy (2005), Dale Thomas (2005), Matthew Kreuzer (2007) and Tom Scully (2009)

Not a Melb player amongst them.

Access to priority picks should be determined by the number of years since the club has won a premiership (alternatively if no premiership, the number of years since the club entered the competition). Get priority access until you win one, then go to the back of the queue! ^_^

Western Bulldogs

Melbourne

St Kilda

Richmond

Fremantle

Carlton

Adelaide

North Melbourne

Essendon

Brisbane

Port Adelaide

Sydney

West Coast

Hawthorn

Collingwood

Gold Coast Suns

Geelong

Greater Western Sydney

Just in time too, with this years draft being really good (apparently). Will no doubt also increase the value in trade situations.

....a formula ( not specified) that will "take into account" etc etc.....take into account, but ultimately at the discretion of the Mafioso.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
