Jim Stynes to step down as Melbourne president at tonight's AGM...

None of us would have blamed Jim if he stepped down as soon as he was diagnosed, however, he soldiered on and never gave up on us and rebuilt this club when it was at it's knees.

The Melbourne Football Club, and all of it's supporters are FOREVER indebted to him, and long after he passes (in hopefully many decades time), he will be remembered as the most influential person in the history of this club. He has done more for this club, than anyone ever has... and all the while, he has been battling his own problems.

Words can't really describe this person... he is simply phenomenal. That's all I can really say. Thanks and keep fighting mate!

Jimma- you are a legend. Both on and off the field. When we win the next premiership -you should be the first to handle the cup or present it to our captain and coach. We owe that to you.You are the savior to our MFC.

Best wishes to your health recovery..

As far as I am concerned he is still the man. Perhaps not in title but definetly in spirit.

Slainte Jimma,

May the road rise up to meet your feet;

May the wind be always gentle at your back

and the sun shine warm upon your face.

May the welcome rains fall softly upon your fields

And, until we meet again,

may God hold you in the palm of his hand.

President forever, even if it's just an honourary position.

Jim, you're a star. And you saved our club. Anything more is purely words, and words don't help - the ability to relax and move away from the club, to be with your kids and Sam and to fight this thing are far, far more important than some football club (despite what many of us think!)

Get better mate. And I'm sure if you do the board will welcome you back with open arms if you so desire.

Could see this coming from a long way off, but still lived in hope that it wouldn't all the same. Thanks Jim - your debt demolition effort will go down as one of the most important events in the history of the club, and nobody else could've pulled it off. You've united a fractured club. You did all this while your health hit the rocks completely. One of my earliest favourite players as a young kid in the late 80s, early 90s, turned in to a President whom we'll never see the likes of again (IMO).

Not afraid to admit I have a tear in my eye. Please get well.

Your ability to show strength in times of immense personal adversity is a life lesson for everyone who loves Melbourne.

You epitomise every aspect of the word hero and it is not a word of a lie when it is said that you saved this club.

Your ability to re-unite and direct everyone's focus in the same direction is immense.

We all love you Jimma.

Keep fighting.

All of us on here have different ideas, and at times it can get heated and sometimes quite nasty. But we are ALL UNITED when the words Jim Stynes are spoken. I have shed tears today. But Jim you are still here and may that continue. This club must become stronger with you as the inspiration & accept nothing less.

GO DEE'S 2012. September bound.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
