Max Gawn injured @ training Wednesday 14 December, 2011

Was just down at Casey Fields and Max Gawn was carried off with what looked like a right knee.

He was in obvious pain and from of the look of the strapping he was already wearing, it is the same knee he has already had reconstructed.

The boys were doing a simulated match practice and his knee seemed to buckle. The play was instantly stopped and he had great difficulty getting to his feet. He was assisted from the field and was very disappointed. Watts came up to give him a consoling pat on the back as he was led up the race. As I said, I believe it is the same knee he has already had reconstructed. Hoping it's only minor, but it looks bad.

Terrible. Fingers crossed its not as bad as it looked.

Anything more uplifting to report?

Jake Spencer may not be a "list clogger" after all.

There is good reason why we have a panel of ruckman.

Hope Gawn gets back from this. Nasty

Edit: Just saw DemonWA's post and agree you need to have enough rucks to cover this situation. Thankfully we are well placed with Jamar, Martin and Spencer.

I was right near Gawn when it happened. He came down from a contested mark - which he won - and seemed OK for a couple of seconds. Then he grimaced, grabbed hs knee and tried to run. He then fell to the ground in some pain. It did not look good and was definitely in the same knee he has heavily strapped. Mitch Clark and another player helped him up, but by then hte trainers arrived and he was led from the field supported by two of them, not putting any weight on his leg.

He will be back. But not in 2012. It's a cruel game regularly. Good Luck Max.

Is this something you know or is it just your impression from what you have been reading? Don't forget Buddy Franklin went down with a knee injury second week of finals and looked set for a long stint on the sidelines, one week later he almost got the Hawks into the Granny of his own boot.

It sounds bad, but let's not get too ahead of ourselves and hope for the best.

Yeah. It could be a torn ACL, but it could also be a sprain, strain or badly twisted knee. The fact that he's getting scans tomorrow indicates that it didn't ease up quickly, indicating that it's not a minor injury, but it might be something that keeps him out for a couple of weeks if we're really lucky.

You could be right, and i hope you are...But i wouldn't put my house on it.

Buddy and Steve Johnson were both very lucky boys and they know it...

Max is a big unit..if his knee buckled then that is a lot of stress.

i wish him all the best....

Let's hope the Injury isn't serious.

I love the BIG GUY.

But if it does end up bad, who will come off the rookie list onto the Primary list.

Jai or Leigh. My preference would be Leigh

I guess we need to wait and see what today's assessment brings, especially considering the Franklin injury scare last finals time.

Good luck to the guy whatever the result - he did have a pretty good start in his few games this season.

I guess this is why we keep a few on the list - one man's misfortune is another's opportunity.

Wait for the scans people. Many, if not most knee injuries are minor. A scan is the logical step for any afl players knee injuries no matter what is wrong. He may have redone his ACL, but without doing any of the tests we don't know. He may well have a medial ligament or a torn meniscus both quite minor or a PCL or any other myriad of knee injuries. Wait for the scans before announcing that the sky is falling

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
