Cam is actually a ripping bloke from what i have been told, so it would be interesting to speak to him over a beer when all haa cooled down to hear his feelings. It wouldn't suprise me if he got into fitness/coaching in the future.

"Trakky Dakks" fitness group...lol.......another of our culture changes 4 the better....was never ever tough enough.....all the best CB.

And that, ladies and gentleman is true testament to the old adage "the grass isn't always greener on the other side". Wait, isn't it "the grass is always greener on the other side", well either way that theory has either been busted or reinforced.

I harbour no ill will towards Bruce, I kind of pity him. He publicly done a little poo on his legacy. I feel he would regret leaving us. Well the end result remains the same; this season would have been his last no matter where he was.

The Club was smart in only offering him a one year deal.

Wow by most comments on here most of you have never made a career mistake or thought the grass is always greener.

I have met him a number of times and he is a great person. Very happy to take the time to talk and have photos etc.

You dont get to play 200+ games if you are an average player.

Show some respect, he served Melb well and will always be remember as a Dees player.

Good luck for the future Brucey.

I know what you are saying and give it time we will welcome him back.

But the fact remains he left for nothing and didn't listen to those of us who were telling him he was making a horrible mistake.

Hindsight?

For many it was foresight and it was a train wreck we couldn't do anything about.

His ego got in the way of sound judgement and that is the sad reality.

It might me hindsight for you, but I was sure that this would happen. I was glad to be rid of Bruce, though, so I'm not complaining.

Bruce still reeks of the Neil Dannier reign... princess. you're ego was way out of hand for a running soft bad kick. the only thing he could do is run and get the ball. hope his enjoying his reality check.

At least he could get the ball! I guess you had silky, sublime skills in your footy career but just couldn't manage to get the pill.( IF, you ever played at all). An important ingredient don't you think? You take a reality check pal.

Some bitter, twisted people on this forum. He was not only a great player, but a great person. I too, have met him on at least three occasions and he was really easy going and friendly. His loyalty to Junior and his rough deal had a lot to do with his departure as well as his being shown the door. Thanks for all those great games Cam. You never failed to run your guts out week in, week out. Hope the club welcomes you back soon now that Bailey has gone.

You don't think Bruce was fit enough? No engine? Flabby and fat? He trained harder than most of his cohorts if not all of them. Why couldn't he be given a fitness coaching role? Some of our boys need to improve theirs.

Read Flemo56's quote again Bobby. He said 'not tough enough', not 'not fit enough'.

Something happened to his mindset after that Guerra tackle, that's for sure.

No, not all bitter and twisted, some just have memories, good ones. You folk are not the only ones to have met anyone. Stangely Cam effervesces a very Cam-ness on occasions I met him. Thats not to say he wa unapproachable or such just I got the feeling he was very focussed as are many of us.

His 'loyalty' was very much at the centre of Jnr going so for mine that all cancels itself out. Dont be mistaken, dont be mislead, Cam Bruce wanted hat he thoght Cam Bruce should get. And he came unstuck.

We could wax lyrically about the two sides to his game, i.e he could get the ball and he could murder the ball. HBA must have had him as their poster boy.....king of the hospital pass !!

He was very hansomely rewarded over the years. Personally I feel we deserve a refund.

My memory of Cam leaving is that one of his reasons was the poor treatment of Junior who was dumped well before there was any public discussion of Cam leaving.

You don't think an unstable manager who makes poor decisions in his personal life would give poor advice.

Fair enough.

I recall I think in Ben Cousins documentary Nixon giving advice to someone other than Cousins and it basically

went along the lines of giving advice to a seasoned player to change clubs for perceived greener pastures.

Nixon had an influence, he was Bruce's manager you don't pay a guy 8% of your contract for nothing even

if you have been in the game for 12 years.

either Nixon didn't assist to mend bridges between Bruce and Club or encouraged Bruce to go.

An unbalanced Nixon would certainly had an effect imo.

The above is a cop out- Bruce brought this on himself- he will be known as a loser whom left the ship when required.

His rough deal?

Let's look at it this way.....Cameron was WELL aware of the clubs policy that 30 + year olds only received 1 year deals. He then acted as though this was a surprise.

If the media knew, all of the supporters knew etc. he could not feign ignorance.

He then waits unitl AFTER trade period, ensuring we couldn't get anything for him, to advise the club he wouldn't be signing and then effectively takes a poop on the club on his way out.

This is after on multiple times holding the club to ransom at contract renewal time and playing it out through the media - and spending years as being the clubs highest paid player

I thank Cameron for what he contributed to the club, but his actions throughout his career relating to contract renewal leave a sour taste in my mouth

But then BB you could never accept Cameron no matter what he did on the field. I wonder if, with your single minded attitude you ever gave him Demonland votes. I guess in your eyes he was just useless. Sad.

His ego got in the way of sound judgement and that is the sad reality.

Any chance Bruce and his manager summised that he had only 1 possibly 2 years (if lucky) in the AFL.

He was offered a 1 yr deal at MFC - Younger list, struggling coach, risk of another tough bottom quartile finish, another tough year ahead

He was offered a 1 yr deal at HFC - List ready to challenge again with the possibility of winning a flag.

What do you do?

He took HFC as the one chance to possibly feature in a flag. Ok did not pay off with his injuries

What he missed at MFC in 2011?

1.Instability off field in FD and Board

2, Terrible injury/suspension list

3. an opportunity to participate in 186

4. Sacking of the Coach.

5. Certain delisting after season's end

Cant say I blame him for having a shot at glory.

Wrong! He was laughing at the prospect of Cam being a FITNESS adviser. The 'not tough enough' comment came later. Read Flemo56's comment again Yoda.

I guess I'd have to agree with most of that, I always had time for Cam but he and a few others from the Daniher era always seemed to make their contract negotiations very public and the threat was always there to leave and go elsewhere. He was paid well and played well for the most part but I can't say I'll miss his holding us to ransom anymore.

As I said elsewhere he is in no man's land no longer not part of us and not part of them.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
