Would love to know what Adelaide paid for pick 2 in the MD.

Hasn't been confirmed anywhere yet has it?

GC has MD pick 1 locked in, Possibly Adelaide will be announced as pick 2. Hopefully the MD stuff is sorted for this year and we can move onto the other trades in trade week.

bugger, I wonder if 2xCompo + pick 12 would have got it done.

Probably would have but we might not have wanted to pay that much.

One would think pick 10 would've been used, which means GW$ have got picks 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9, 10, 11. A total of 9 picks inside the top 11. Wowee.

It surely is all about pick 10 + compo.

Regardless of how shallow the draft is this year, the Scum Jnr have an absolute stranglehold on it now don't they?

We would be better off trying to offload pick 12 and get a decent midfielder. I'm not saying we will get a star, but if we can get someone in their early 20's, that would easily be in our best 18, you'd have to consider it.

Hopefully what Harrington said yesterday (or MOnday - can't remember), about the people they have been speaking to for a few months, with a bit of luck one of them gets landed.

It is very interesting. If Adelaide trumped us by 2 spots in this years draf, I wonder what would have happened if we offered a player in addition to pick 12 and our mid ladder compo pick. Would a player we could have offered been worth more than 2 spots on the ladder considering GWS had the spot in between anyway. Also why have these deals been announced ahead of the close date. What happens for example if we do a trade with Port and get their pick 6 for our 12 and offer that with our compo pick. That trumps Crows but it is too late. That leads me to 2 possibilities either we walked away or they wouldn't deal with us. Maybe Sheedy harbours a grudge. If it is the latter I would wait and plan now to target players on their list coming out of contract and I would aim to hurt them. They are racing to the position of my second most hated club after Carlton and they haven't even played a game yet. I pledge now to never attend their stadium.

Have read post 259 and it looks like we walked away. It is clear that if we had not insisted on a pick back or taken a later pick back than Crows got we would have got MD2 as GWS could have received the pick 14 given by the GC to Crows and we could have got a later GWS pick and the deal would have been done. We pulled out because we insisted on a pick below 25 in return. I hope we don't regret this move.

Brisbane and GC still able to get PP in 2012 as well.

probably wrong on this but..........

I thought priority picks were temporarily suspended whilst compromised drafting was still in place??

ie upto and including 2012 (2012 still includes GWS MD and Out-of-Contract theft)

Lol, another trade week will fly bye and MFC won't do anything much by the looks of it.

Seriously though, this O'Meara has had a lot of hype that he has to deal with, and he can't even play until 2013!

Typical Melbourne, all hype and end up with nothing -.-

Not yet lets wait the time out and see. I think I can say this without fear of being howled down, except for the Brock McLean deal, the MFC has been pathetic at improving its list during trade week over the last 10 years. The last good player I can recall we got is Beamer on the back of the pick for losing Scott Thompson. We certainly didn't win on that deal either.

If I have forgotten a great trade for us feel free to remind me.

Nothing is confirmed yet, we were in the "box seat" this time yesterday so we will see.

With what has been reported i just dont get how Adelaide get a good pick back after it all 14??? seems like crap?

And apparently the thing holding the deal up is that Adelaide want some guy Luke Brown from Norwood as an extra concession

THIS MUST BE A JOKE?

I think the trade of Travis Johnstone which brought us Jack Grimes was pretty good......

Seen his youtube package??? I'd be creaming if it was just announced we had pick 1, everything he does looks surreal. I'm [censored] and to not even get pick 2 when the mini draft was what our FD said they were targeting. Massive let down if it does become official.

The only ones hyping it up have been those suggesting we throw everything at Crouch -- pick #12 and two compo picks ... effectively three first round picks ... for one player who would at best go top 5 (with one pick) in 2012.

GWS end up with even more 2011 draft picks (#4 and #10) to add to 20-somethings like Scully, Palmer, Davis and Ward. I'm still wondering where their big-bodied experienced players are going to come from.

Plus apparently they want a pre-listed player. Wouldn't be surprised if the recruiters don't want Crouch, with Viney to join next year. Surely our offer would trump that.

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
