It often amuses me that so much speculation is givng to this bloke or that blokes ability to coach based as much as it is often on the basis of a playing career.

Coaching is ALL about an understanding of the craft and the ability to communicate and teach it. They dont have to play, they have to be able to Coach, to facilitate, to empower.

Some very good player cant coach for sh!t..some can...and vice versa....and possibly all grades in between.

Im prepared to trust the club in its desire and ability to build a top notch footy dept full of able coaches. Sure, not a kick in anger yet but theres certainly a methodology and purpose in their efforts thus far.

I for one am very interested to see how al lthis rubs off and effects our list.

Hack players are generally the best coaches-except for Lethal and to a lesser extent ,Walls.

Just on Rawlings, I know everyone's jumping on him for not being successful - but he's probably one of a few assistants at Richmond who have been unlucky simply because they've been an assistant at Richmond. David King is another.

Brisbane have been pretty good this year with a shitty list. Anyone know what role he was undertaking in Queensland?

The Brisbane website doesn't say, but according to one of the articles I read he was backline coach.

He was and as Vanlo points out he played Backline well at Hawthorn.-- I had forgotten about this.

He is not a coach, but former Melbourne player, and now former Carlton General Manager of Football Operations Stephen, Icke is now available.

FORMER Adelaide coach Neil Craig looks set to be Carlton's football manager in a shock Blues move that forces Steven Icke out.

Icke, 55, is a shock sacking from the Blues to make way for Craig.

Just a maybe, MFC was talking to him for a very senior role at our club for 2012..Such a role maybe indeed be Director of Football.

Icke and Ratten have not seen eye to eye for some time, and with Ratten's re-signing, this was an expected outcome.

I'm sure there will be a clear structured OBS with clearly defined roles.

One thing I like the word professionalism being used over and over again by our new additions.

What I wonder is what impact the Andrews Report has had on this restructuring?

Surely it hasn't all come from Neeld himself.

But then again, we shelved that report and ignored its findings, didn't we?

i'd love to see the MFC org chart... all of these new positions confuse me!

I posted this in the Neil Craig thread, but this is how I read it;

"Neeld said there would be at least eight full-time coaches at the club next season, which “stacks up very well with the best clubs going around”.

So I make the organisational structure (in terms of who they are reporting to) to crudely look something like this:

MFC Board

CEO (Cameron Schwab) / Football Director (Lyon (for now))

Director of Sports Performance (Neil Craig)

Senior Coach (Neeld) / Elite Performance Manager (Misson) / General Manager Player Devt & Strategy (Viney)

Backline Coach (Rawlings / Midfield Coach (Royal) / Forward Coach (yet to be apptd??)

Backs Asst Coach (?) / Mids Asst Coach (Greaves) Devt Fwd Line Coach (Satterley)

And also:

General Mgr Club Devt (Connolly)

Football Manager (Mahoney)

Developement Coach (O'Donnell)

Innovations Coach (Dunbar)

General Manager List Devt (Harrington)

Recruitment Manager (Prendergast)

Who i dont know where they fit in in terms of who they are reportable to (as the above would be).

That leaves forwards coach and assitant to backline coach vacant...

Any further additions, I imagine that if they are to come from either of the teams playing in the GF, considering it is so close we will extend them the courtesy of waiting until the match has been played.

Caracella - forward line coach

Hudghton - backline assistant

No? I'd be over the moon with that.

As would be the players, no doubt.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
