Bank of Queensland Logo's will not appear on our Jumper....it won't happen.

They may be a small sponssor if we have a Board Connection, but they won't be a major sponsor....Melbourne is not their territory.

There are about 4 branches in the whole city...(i know this cause i had to locate one about 3 years ago...took me bloody ages to find!!!) yes it was before GPS.

Its not going to happen, but just wanna point out there are about 25 branches in Victoria, with close to 10 being in the city or what is considered "inner city".

Expansion is a wonderful thing.

Obviously need some brand awareness and advertising (sponsorship) to get the message out there.

BoQ I don't think can be our major sponsor as it would upset too many Queenslanders if they were sponsoring Melbourne rather than Lions or GC. I could see them being a minor sponsor. Bad luck I think that one of our Directors is the boss of an interstate named and based bank. I know they have branches here but most are in Queensland. Stuart may even resign from our Board if he is now based in Queensland. Don't think I am misreading this, but maybe I am.

I'm almost certain Stuart has been based in Sydney for most of his time as a director anyway. It is not uncommon for directors to be based elsewhere as they generally meet infrequently.

I would have thought the perception of a conflict of interest makes BoQ a certainty not to be a sponsor (Not that I ever thought they would be). When you are responsible for someone else's money, you don't go about sponsoring your own club.

Unless you are in the recycled paper game...

It's a tough business.

There ain't no virgins in recycled paper...

But it is not our job to advertise Queensland. Infact it could even be counter productive to the MFC brand.

Unless I've misunderstood what rpfc was saying, I think my comment still stands. The recycled paper business was owned and operated by one person. His money to recycle as he saw fit.

Is VISY public?

If it is I stand by my comment.

If it is not, I will...not.

I'm pretty sure you can as long as the connection is known to the other board members

Yes - privately owned, by the Pratt family. Started up by Richard Pratt's late father.

It could be a total co-incidence but in the past couple of days I've acquired a new follower to my twitter account and that person is Chinese and writes in some form of Chinese language.

Caro blots her copybook by repeating the fiction that Tom Scully left the club's China tour in October 2010 because some Melbourne players allegedly "turned the tour into an alcohol-fuelled series of late nights".

We now know the real reasons why Scully left the tour and according to my source, who was on the tour (and stayed on it and thoroughly enjoyed the experience), the alcohol issues emanated primarily from members of the other club involved in the tour of which one Brendan Fevola was then a member.

At least Scully should be happy having now joined a monastery in Bleaktown, NSW.

I wonder why we simply don't set the record straight.

Because we don't have to, China had nothing to do with him leaving and we have moved on. Let the media focus remain on him, which he couldn't handle last year, and we go about improving what we have.

China is an interesting one, no doubt it would be a great place to strike up all sorts of business deals, it is one of the few countries with money in the bank and is the backbone of the Australian ecomony.

The Age is hinting that we might have found a Chinese sponsor.

Chinese whispers may land Demons sponsor

Schwab spent five days in China in talks with companies looking for exposure in the Australian market and said: ''I'm hopeful a number of relationships will come out of it.''

Doesn't say much though:

That comment says to me that they are still looking for a second sponsor and that we are not cl;ose to getting one from there. Perhaps the China Southern Airlines deal fell through.

Or maybe weve already got one. Possibly a company might want to time any announcements to coincide with any marketing launch of its own..

Who knows..lol

Maybe CS is working on his reply to abusive supporters when he says "x" company has come on board for $1.3m per year for the next 3 years...

Kaspersky will stay on as a sponsor, just not as joint major sponsor. Which still leaves the front of our jumper up for grabs. Why not just go back to BoM and see if they're still interested? Given what we have gone through recently, it would generate a lot of good press for us if we were able to announce our new coach, sponsor and possible mini-draft player al within a couple of weeks. It would give us some real momentum going into the pre-season and the season proper.

Please confirm if Kaspersky will be staying on as sponsor?

You never know WJ what this Chinese person is on about - he may even want to add to your notification of Viagra being our shorts sponsor. The person may want to seek sponsorship for the back of the shorts? One will never know - or be surprised.

I checked the profile and from the picture it's a she.

... and she can sponsor the back of my shorts any day of the week

I could get into trouble for this but ...

Other than that - you're on your own...

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
