with free angency silvia will soon realise that he is not worth as much as some have been saying. if Scull goes we get two first rond picks and if he stays we get scully its win win for the dees. if he dose go two compensation picks puts melbourne in a very strong pozzy to nab a big name during trade week.

We can't afford to lose Sylvia.

Even with his flaws, he's one of our mainstays and one who now is a part of the fabric. He's getting close to being one of our leaders and just starting to bleed Red 'n' Blue'!

We must keep Colin, & make sure he feels appreciated so he can maintain the chain....

If we are in a tight spot we have to then look to let our 28 yrs plus players, take the money,,,, so we can keep our current 27 Yr old's and below, group.

Mainstays of what ?? Inconsistent ans spasmodic performaces ??

Part of the fabric ? ? What...a worn out horseblanket ??

This is not the echelon to which we need to aspire.

If he should suddenly start to put say 3 good qtrs together week after week then we'll revisit this idea of him being "absolutely required"

I wonder if he was part of the failed Mutinous party ?? hmm

Would be a disaster to let Sylvia go.

Ron , with all due respect the fact that many might agree with yo goes more to the real quality of our supposed 'older' brigade than their real input when held up against similalry placed players at the more successful clubs.

Thats the worry...not that he could/would go.

Let him go. If he stays then pay him what he's worth and not a penny more. Take it or leave it. Still waiting for his break out year after what was it when we recruited him? 7-8 years ago perhaps?

This is exactly the point....If Colin is an "untouchable" fine...He can play.

Play 20 quarters of Football Colin & help the team make the finals....Then you have a claim. It is up to you.

Here i will open the door for you Colin. We need to get players who, well whats the word I'm looking for? that's it PLAY!

After what has happened I think it might be time to weed out players who don't give 100% and he is one of them. If we are able to get something for him than that's what we should do.

...and it begins...

Thank God this is finally officially a rumour. Now we're allowed to compare the Sylvia situation to Scully.

We can also start calling him a liar, scum etc too. Beauty.

For mine the notion of "untouchable" breeds a lurgy called..........complacency !! Once a player starts thinking hes a walk up start then we lose an edge.

We need players fighting for places week in week out. Sure for some it might become easier ( but only through effort) but all have to know theyre employed to do a job. Start forgettting that and we'l lstart forgetting you !! simple :)

Well you changed the subject. When are all you fence sitters and apologists going to finally admit it? You all still like that warm fuzzy feeling of keeping you head firmly buried in the sand. The biggest winner out of this debacle is TS. Now he has plausible "outs" to tell the media when he finally declares he's jack of us. He's going to blame the sacking of Dean and all the political turmoil for the hard decision he had to make. So much easier or him now.

A ransom, he's improvement is on the Up over the last 2 Years so he's a keeper.

I almost want Scully to go to GWS.

Think about it.

He has chronic problems with his knee.

We'd get two priority picks for him.

We'd free up millions of dollars we'd otherwise be able to spend say trying to get Clarkson or Malthouse to the Club.

We're getting a belter of a midfielder Jack Viney next year :)

Inconsistent players like Sylvia just eat into our salary cap and should be getting paid less not more for what they provide the club on the field.

I am convinced that no player is safe. If Sylvia wants to go, he can, but we will need to trade him.

If Scully goes, it will be indicative of major issues at the club, all but proving issues surrounding Schwab's position at the club.

And nothing to do with the extra $400K? ... get real.

There are issues that probably won't help MFC's cause in regard to retaining key personnel. But let me throw some light from a different perspective.

I bet you if there was no TS issue this year, there may well still be some dissatisfaction with admin, but nothing to this extent. Isn't it funny how it all finally reaches boiling point with the players when Schwab publicly opens his big flap and says we can match GWS's offer?

TS may not have held a dagger to DB ... but some form of involuntary manslaughter might be appropriate.

It would not be a stretch to imagine that TS holding off contract negotiations has had a destabilising impact on the rest of the club.

That you're afraid of success and an apologist for all that's wrong with the footy club.

Not at all.

Don't pretend you knew intimately all the issues going on behind the scenes at the club, and that you fought for change while I made apologies for it.

You're talking sh%t. Don't talk sh%t.

You had no idea of any of the issues being talked about now.

I merely don't accept baseless speculation.

I'm actually excited about the changes happening and I think it'll be good for the club.

But don't talk sh%t.

You give me the biggest bellyache laugh I've had in years. What are you going to do? Wait to read it in the papers or watch it on the news? I thought you don't give the media much cred? Or is Todd going to tell you? When are you going to think?

Sylvia would be an absolute weapon in a good team. I'd like to keep him.

And Simon Buckley can be a weapon too. And Kyle Cheney can hold up a defensive post adequately in a good team.

In fact, i reckon you could have taken any one of our 22 that played on Saturday, and put them in the Pies, Cats or Hawks team on the weekend, and they would have looked alright.

How good would have Alex Fasolo looked playing in the Red and Blue at Skilled?

We need players who are going to raise their game and those around them to another level. Sylvia has had 7 or 8 years to show these qualities, but has failed along with just about every other player drafted into our club in and around his era.

Just read on BG that - according to a posted who cited Gerard Healy - a few senior players will be seeking trade at the end of year. Probably not unexpected given what has happened as of late.

Rumours floating around radio TV and internet about Slyvia possibly going north to Sydney/ GWS and I think we all know now that Scully is gone losing these two who would both be top 5 at the club would be huge loss to the MFC.

This would set us back even further getting draft picks was good a few years ago but we can't lose any hard experienced players for more skinny 18 year olds

I personally want players that are going to win us games now not playing Casey for 3-4 years developing

Give Slyvia the money he deserves $ 450 a year for 3 years its not to much MFC get it done !!

Heyy guys. UPDATE! No one's going anywhere.....unless they've already signed.

As a player, would you be stepping out of a club right now that could....and it's a big IF i realise..... but just could...snag Mick?

I don't think so.

But like Belze said above.... it's time to stop the automatic start up policy. Everyone, from the Captain down, must now earn their place in this team. Regardless of what's on offer at Casey. Can't get any worse than last Saturday as long as we have 22 committed players each week who earn their stripes.

There were a number of Demonland Trackwatchers at Gosch's Paddock this morning to bring you their observations from Preseason Training. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS They were going hard at each other. The sims were in two 15 minute blocks. The second block finished a few minutes early, they gathered and had another 7 minutes at it. I think they were asked to compete, as they would play against an opposition. There was plenty of niggle, between some of them. At the end o

Better late than never … and quite frankly, there’s very little to report other than that training took place at Casey Fields this morning, that Tracc was there nursing his rib injury and that some photographs are on the club’s social media including this one of Clarrie in Raging Bull stance that gives rise for confidence. The other news is that the club has a new train on player in 185cm Dandenong Stingrays midfielder Noah Hibbins-Hargreaves (love the hyphenated name which is just so fitti

Welcome back to Demonland for those like me who have been on vacation. I’m posting this with some trepidation because of a certain amount of uncertainty surrounding the return of preseason training in 2025 after a flurry of weddings including those of our coach, one of our superstar players and a former premiership champion player and bloke, not to mention the recent mysterious incident that occurred on the Mornington Peninsula.  I believe that the team reassembles this morning at Casey Fie

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to
