Green - always looked dangerous

Jones - shut down role

Watts - couldn't handle conditions

Gysberts - some glaring turnovers

Frawley - the perfect defender

Trengove - creative and reliable

Morton - tentative and fumbled

Sylvia - classy all night

McKenzie - just a game

Petterd - our best forward

Maric - opportunistic but limited

Garland - safe all night

Moloney - a creative playmaker

Jurrah - took his chances

Rivers - some trademark defense

Scully - had limited impact

Martin - showed his versality

Tapscott - will be better

Howe - had limited opportunity

Jamar - had little impact

Strauss - didn't evoke confidence

Nicholson - backed himself detrimentally

Can someone fill me in on the cassisi issue i couldn't watch the game tonight

His wife is expecting to give birth to their child any minute now; he left his decision to play the game or not until as late as possible and he didn't fly out of Adelaide until yesterday morning and then was on the first flight back home rushing to be with his wife. Yet with all that going on he played a ripping game.

You're right, Tappy will get better. I feel like he would have been taken off had Scully not got his knock. Either him, Strauss, Nicho or Morton anyway.

Morton should have if Scully wasn't injured

Steph Martin is developing into a one-of-a-kind player. His work at ground level is outstanding considering his size, and his ability to turn on the run is just a site to behold.

Ricky-P reminded us all of why we were so insistent on him signing when the GC suns were having a sniff. He was sizzling whenever he went near the ball.

A few boys might be put under some pressure to retain a spot (Strauss/Morton/Tappy) but considering the conditions and the fact we got the 4 points I think we might make only one change if flash is ready to go.

watts really struggled fitness-wise bb. I thought the conditions were just too much for him

he looked totally shagged most of the time

he obviously doesn't like high humidity

I thought Jack was OK. Not his best game but nothing of shame noted. Looked like he just got out of a shower for the whole game. Some people can't cope with extreme humidity. Again very impressed with Martin. He was one of my big hopes pre season and he is starting to deliver big time.

In another thread it was said that he had been sick all week with a chest infection.....

Pretty good effort when that is actually taken into account.

Joeboy I think you have been very tough on Meric and Jamar.

Jamar went hard at it all night and seldom lost in the ruck duals.

3 goals to Maric as a small forward ands some nice kicks to position

What more do want from him?

Thought Jordie McKenzie deserved higher praise in the 'three word analysis' for his job on Boak. Kept him to 15 possessions including just three in the second half. A great effort considering Boak polled three Brownlow votes in the same match last year.

Agree. In the words of meatloaf, " you took the words right out of my mouth". I was going to post that we should ask Boak what he thought of McKenzie's game. JM shut down their best player.

Its intereting at times to see how others view games. I take the following as example.

Emma Quale ( whos writings on this game I rate very highly ) produced this list after the Dees/Port game:

I thought Col good,(very) but not best . I thought personally Trengove was BOG. not far behind was Beamer. but for mine the next was Martin. A bloke his size just ought not be so agile, fortunately for us he is. He should have been knackered ( and maybe he was) but he seemed to handle the sticky condition incredibly well.. Frawley was easily next, Petterd, Maric. Jurrah had a really good 40 mins or so but considering it was his "climate" , possibly harshly I expected him to tear Port apart ( for a whole game ) . Jamar was good but didnt dominate. Rivers was good in parts and a calamity in others.

Why are we so attrocious as a team overall at short passing. Tappy fires bullets, geez id like to receive his kicks , but id need a kevlar vest !!

What happened to Martin, Emma ?? just interestred

Were you there or from the limited TV screen? Did you know what the conditions were really like? Did you know what the game plan was? Did you know the instructions from the coaching panel to each player? Your effort is commendable as a knee jerk TV reaction, but meaningless in the modern game.

    REDEEMING by Meggs

    It was such a balmy spring evening for this mid-week BNCA Pink Lady match at our favourite venue Ikon Park between two teams that had not won a game since round one.   After last week’s insipid bombing, the DeeArmy banner correctly deemanded that our players ‘go in hard, go in strong, go in fighting’, and girl they sure did!   The first quarter goals by Alyssa Bannan and Alyssia Pisano were simply stunning, and it was 4 goals to nil by half-time.   Kudos to Mick Stinear.

    Last Saturday’s crushing loss to Fremantle, after being three goals ahead at three quarter time, should be motivation enough to bounce back for this very winnable Round 5 clash at Windy Hill.     BLOW THE SIREN by Meggs

    Fremantle hosted the Demons on a sunny 20-degree Saturdayafternoon winning the toss and electing to defend in the first quarter against the 3-goal breeze favouring the Parry Street end. There was method here, as this would give the comeback queens, the Dockers, last use of the breeze. The Melbourne Coach had promised an improved performance, and we did start better than previous weeks, winning the ball out of the middle, using the breeze advantage and connecting to the forwards.

    Calling all fit players. Expect every available Melbourne player to board the Virgin cross-continent flight to Perth for this Round 4 clash on Saturday afternoon at Fremantle Oval.     With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.
