Quarterbrain on Ten news about to talk about a 'Demons star' set to quit.

Obviously talking about Aussie, and man, he got his words twisted. Will definitely be rookied if he doesn't come back soon but we aren't getting rid of him that easily.

Wona has certainly had a very rough trot, and the Club has shown him an amazing amount of latitude and consideration.

But all that said - Wona really owes it to the Club to let them know well before the desisting period if he is really prepared to make the commitment and the sacrifices needed to play AFL footy.

If he is not he surely cannot expect to occupy a place on the list. IF he could go to the rookie list then it could be an option - he is going to have his work cut out just to regain general and match fitness after a year out of AFL, however strong his commitment.

And someone mentioned AFL compassionate rules - I haven't heard of these. To be really cynical (and I am sure that I hear voices calling me paranoid), how could we possibly trust Herr Fuehrer and Anderson to not change the interpretation as and when they feel like it, like they do with the salary cap rules?

If he doesn't commit before the trade/delisting period then we simply make the call for him. That's not harsh, thats reasonable.

I like the idea of putting him on the rookie list if he still maintains interest but isn't 100% committed and back before the end of the season.

.......

Correct on both counts. For mine, his modest form and (lack of) conditioning for the past few years should have meant he is marginal at best anyway.

Time to cut him loose. We are not a sheltered workshop (ask Junior).

He was a bright spot during some very dark days. Sad to see him go, but it is what it is and we have to move on.

No point even retaining him on the rookie list. Once he goes back to NT he isn't coming back. Besides, we could use that rookie spot to unearth another Nicholson type.

We are hungry for success, and we need players who are hungry for it.

If, he wants out of Melbourne I'd hope we could maybe organise a trade with Brisbane for him.. A win/win is better than losing him. It's a tad warmer up there, & closer to home for him.

look on the map of aus... brisbane is thousands of ks from darwin plus a hop over to the tiwis. if he doesnt wnt to come back to melbourne hes not gunna want to play there.

The team will be in Darwin in a couple of weeks. No doubt Aussie will be there to catch up with the boys or at least someone from the coaching staff will catch up with him then. Let's wait & see what happens after that.

Might stir up some desire or at least help Aussie to make a decision.

Aussie's mum came up to a supporter at the game on Saturday night to tell her that Aussie was coming back.

Once again....all the journalist's were wrong....They know as much fact as we do most of the time. Keep this in mind when putting the Scully scenario into perspective...They do not know what is REALLY happening.

Welcome back Austen...The Club obviously loves you very much, so i am very happy you want to return...Get fit little guy and tear it up in 2012.

Wonna has shown that players DO want to play for this club....a very positive sign going forward.

Guest Artie Bucco

Range Rover, it's good to see the angry mob holding Quartermain accountable for his incorrect reporting of Aussie's career's demise...

He's copping it left, right and centre.

That'll teach him.

Good thing he didn't make a premature prediction on Tom Scully's future...

Well certainly Kelly Underwood was wrong when she announced on Ten News that he would not return this year and would play in Darwin in 2012.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was
