6 Rivers

5 Macdonald

4 McKenzie

3 Gysberts

2 Moloney

1 Trengove

Thought the win was set up by the defence returning to 2010 form (even without half their numbers). Rivers and Macdonald were kings in that area. In some ways I was disappointed with our midfield, but they kicked ass. Still a lot of work for the forwards to do I think, but if I had one more vote it would be for Howe, he gave us structure!

Kidding yourselves if McKenzie isn't the top vote getter people.

6- McKenzie

5- Rivers

4- Gysberts

3- Martin

2- Trengove

1- Scully

The game was won in the middle. Rivers also saved the day and was simply sensational.

Harsh on pretty much everyone else who missed out. Especially Beamer, MacDonald, Watts and Evans who worked exceptionally hard!

6 McKenzie (An absolutely brilliant game. Junior jnr may one day surpass Junior snr.)

5 Martin (If I hadn't seen it, I wouldn't believe it. Beat Hille, Ryder and Bellchambers. Jamar-esque.)

4 Rivers (Career-best form? Must be close ...)

3 Gysberts (Finding the ball's never been the problem, tonight he used it beautifully both in close and in space.)

2 Trengove (Pure silk. And he makes everyone else better.)

1 Watts (This vote is purely for his composure in the last quarter. When the Bombers where pressing, he had about four touches in two minutes, all of them calm and effective, and his attitude infected the whole team.)

Apologies to:

Bennell, great defensive game.

MacDonald, very rarely beaten.

Moloney, his usual steamroller self.

Jetta, mad-dog attitude, McKenzie-esque.

Green, finally a forward, and lo and behold, he plays a captain's game.

Jones, doesn't get the kudos he deserves.

Scully, pretty bloody good for a first game back!

Howe, presented well, had clean hands, and gave us a target across half-forward.

Everyone else can feel aggrieved to be left out as well. Great effort. Now please let them do it again next week! And the week after that, and the week after that, and for the three months after that ...

Apologies to the rest of the team.

Points for Bailey and the coaching staff for ditching experienced players that are not up to it and going for youth.

Something the previous coach never did...

Best team effort in years makes voting extremely tough this week (unlike recent weeks when it has been tough to find a decent 6). Keep it up Dees!

6. Rivers – better than ever?

5. McKenzie - outstanding

4. Martin - ditto

3. Moloney – great leadership at the end

2. Trenners – so many skills

1. Howe – for his workrate and dedication in the bright lights

Absurd that I left Gys out, but it was hard to choose.

Maybe Demonland can erase the votes from last week and extend the votes this week?

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
