Michael Newton's out 4-6 with a foot injury.

Guess that pretty much stamps Gawn for Friday now if there was any doubt.

Newton out for four to six

Rohan Bail (knee) - 4 weeks

Clint Bartram (hip) - test

Robbie Campbell (knee soreness) - test

Aaron Davey (knee) 6-8 weeks

Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 6 weeks

Colin Garland (ankle) - 5 weeks

Jack Grimes (foot) - season

Mark Jamar (knee) - 3 weeks

Michael Newton (foot) - 4-6 weeks

Jake Spencer (knee) - season

Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 2 weeks

Add to this Austin Wonaeamirri who is out on compassionate leave and back home on the Tiwi Islands.

I know I'll probably cop it for this, but I feel just about as good as I did hearing the Dunn suspension news as I do hearing this. Yes, never feel good about an injury, but......

HOWE GAWN ARE WE?

Posted

Honestly, did we annoy the big guy/girl upstairs, what happened to the one-week hammy? Everything is at least 4-6 weeks and I'm not talking about Nick Smith here.

here's hoping they dont bring Dunn back!

would like to think he was going to be dropped anyway a total waste of space who should have got arse long ago . Howe deserves a crack and lets have a look at the string bean...

VERY! BIRTH OF THE HURRICANE IMMINENT!

Dunn will come back - he's the only one who can play forward and pinch-hit in the ruck.

Whether under normal circumstances he would be considered is another question!

Ditto, I want Dunn to serve his time @ Casey for a bit.

Bring in HOW EE! But I would have replaced Petterd with Howe, but now Newton is injured, I'd prefer not to lose the mature player. So maybe Petterd stays, but McDonald comes in as the big forward for Newton. Gawn to ruck.

Hmmn, interesting, isn't it.

Would never wish an injury apon someone, having said that I wanted him out of the side so I guess I got my wish.

Surely there's little doubt now, Gawn's in.

Wow, the ride never stops this season.

To those taking a stab at the guy, I saw more decent efforts from Newton than I did from many of the other players vs Carlton (despite a few very obvious mistakes).

Posted

Newton presented probably as often and as well as any other forward. At the moment he is the only player fit -- in a physical and performance sense -- for that position.

HOWE GAWN ARE WE?

Surely that's the banner this week?

I just received a call from the club asking me if I wanted a game this Friday night.

Probably after the surgeon didn't give me the all clear to play. Must suck being choice #87 B)

Please tell me you're not Lynden Dunn!

Dunn has to play, we are running out of troops! Gawn has to get a look.

FCS, it's only Tuesday and we've already lost two players this week for an extended period.

What puzzles me this year is this strange phenomenon of a player who has played out a game with a little "niggle" that during the next week turns out to be a significant injury. Jamar, Davey, now Newton; Scully (to some extent, I can't remember whether he played out the game) in pre-season.

HOWE GAWN ARE WE?

You should- whatever else he tries his guts out for our team

Surely once we get this winning three-way back on field we can't lose?

RETURN TO NORMAL by Whispering Jack

One of my prized possessions is a framed, autographed guernsey bearing the number 31 worn by my childhood hero, Melbourne’s champion six time premiership player Ronald Dale Barassi who passed away on 16 September 2023, aged 87. The former captain who went on to a successful coaching career, mainly with other clubs, came back to the fold in his later years as a staunch Demon supporter who often sat across the way from me in the Northern Stand of the MCG cheering on the team. Barassi died the
