Am I allowed to reconsider this in light of our current outs?

Nah I'll stand by it.

Carlton-supporting mate of mine said the same thing...he's tipping us despite no Jamar.

After tonight's events, I believe we will smash North. The players will be out for blood. If I were a North Melbourne player, I'd be wanting danger pay for taking the field against us this week.

If those four play with the same intensity as last week and we stop Petrie, I think we will get up.

We need these guys playing consistently well each week if we are to make finals.

The Trengove saga only helps to increase the "seige" mentality amongst the players and builds character/determination.

We win by 4 - 5 goals in a gutsy scrap at Shiityhed Stadium

RN I think you have only blind faith to support your argument.

We have lost two of our best players of the last 2-3 weeks, both helped us dominate the centre clearances last week.

Our first replacement Ruckman is out for the season along with the next guy ( Fitzpatrick )for 8 weeks.

Martin is under a cloud and Campbell has no fitness and needs to be up graded before he can play.

There is no replacement for Trengove who is even half as good.

Add the loss of Grimes and we are staring down the barrel.

Then the big one!

We have not beaten North or anyone at ES since Adam played full back for Jerusalem.

If we get within 5 goals of North I will be surprised.

However I will be happy for you to point out on Saturday night how wrong I was in my prediction.

The way things work when we play, all of that has us winning by a clear margin.

I would feeel more confident if we had won by 96 last week and they had lost by 90

Adam would have dominated in that position because he wouldn't have had an opponent. He was the only man on earth. Unless he lined up against Eve. I'm not sure who would have won that one.....haven't seen the players stats on either of them. On past history she would probably outsmarted him.

Just a slight difference in the quality of the opposition C& B

one has no losses and looks the only contender to the Pies

And the other cannot beat Port!

Think you have forgotten Able, he was much better than his old man until his untimely demise!

Lol OD.  Yep.  Pretty crappy case i put forward eh.  Was off the cuff and just a gut feel. I did give some detail.  Said it'll be scrappy!

Having said that, amazing things can happen once the "belief" factor creeps in, especially if the boys still feel a lil like they're under siege!  And now, the pressure valve's been released (aka last weeks thrashing).....look out!  I wouldn't wanna be playin em right at the moment if i were an opponent (Pies/Cats excluded as their belief/skill/execution/experience factors are massive obviously).

Re your points:

Martin: 99% sure he'll play even if only 85%-90% fit.  Lets see what he's got, albeit expectations shouldn't be too high if carrying something and given he's still very inexperienced.

Trengove:  Agreed.  Another massive loss.  Joel MacDonald is at least an "ok" option to provide a contest and link man.

Grimes:  Will be badly missed no doubt.  Bennell in for pace, poise and finish (i hope!).

Not saying MacDonald or Bennell are equivalent replacements.  But at  least they have some experience and can play in spurts.

Martin in the middle.  Dunn to help him (us) out around the ground.  Random 3rd man up to assist as required.

Engine room is humming (The Key IMO!)

Bobby provides the junkyard contest and finish inside 40.  Air Jurrah the unexpected brilliance inside 40 also.  Flash to fire again, albeit more difficult on shittyhed to work through the zones/space etc given the space constraints.  Consider a surprise move up forward in brief spurts here to unsettle opposition.

Bater, Tappy, Sylvia, Jones to pepper the sticks from 40 - 50+.  Too many offensive options for North.

Wanna to provide some crumbing & finish up forward.  Big game needed!

Apart from ruck stocks down, biggest weakness/danger is defence versus their talls.  Can we hold em to a losing score?  Bring the intensity, attack and tackling we brought last week (even 95%), and decent form from Garland/Warnock and co. and I say yes we can...

4 - 5 goals...stickin with my first call.

(If you're correct OD i'll tips me hat to ya!)

Hell do not get me wrong I hope to be giving you praise for your superior knowledge.

I just struggle to see us beating a side we always struggle to beat after all the player losses etc.

I will be in the nose bleed section on saturday hoping for the best.

Look forward to you reminding me how little I know!

If we have the same intensity we had last match, we'll win. Probably not as easily, but we'll win.

It's as simple as that.

I hope you are right, but Jamar and Moloney smashed them outta the centre and trenners had 25 possies. The Jamar palm downs to Moloney are going to be sorely missed, just hope whoever goes into the ruck makes a majority of balls 50/50 then we'll get to see just how good Moloneys form is. Hope he does it again! Moloney for the Brownlow!!!!

Adam was 4-6 with a rib injury.

31 goals difference? come on

will this club ever have any confidence or do we just expect to lose every game no matter how incredibly shouse the opposition is

C&B I do not believe that North is as bad as you suggest

They have had two bad games Pies and Cats ( top two teams )

The only poor team they have played is Port and won that one.

They got very close to fremantle and West Coast

and they started the season with a lot of injuries.

We have had 3 wins against 12th, 13th and the last team,

and a belting by Hawks and Eagles

I suggest that North have played a lot better sides and had 2 trips to WA.

Re confidence. I will have some when the team provides some, we do not have much to crow about at present.

Arghh.

Ok O.D. But i wont be beatin my own drum regardless of whether it turns out something like the way i'm seeing it. I'm just pi$$in into the wind from the top stand i think.

Hec, I was wrong on Bater and MacDonald (being picked) and game hasn't even started lol!

At end of the day it's just an opinion/feeling based on many years of watching from the stands and tv. Many more learned and experienced footy peeps (and some good local/ex footy players etc) on this site that would cut my opinions/views to pieces with more solid/sound reasoning and experience/knowledge (including yourself maybe). And sometimes they do !!

There are two things I am certain we can agree on!

If we win we will both be happy and if we lose we will both be sad.

The rest is all just opinion.

We can still beat North Tomorrow...with the right attitude...This is why juice was retained, as a back up Ruckman.

Come on Juice, turn it on...Do it for yourself, if not for us!

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
