WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BILLY STRETCH

He has attitude issues and will not be taken in the draft any higher than 60th or so .

This is the news we should be circulating about him.

The Crows are trying to inflate his worth.

I heard Ben cousins has taken him under his wings, i reckon that would lose him abit of interest

Watching the eye catchers video on the AFL website it sounds like young billys value is right on the way up, a bit like young Zac Jones last year, hopefully it doesn't go higher than second round, can't see us using pick 4 on him.

We don't want that.

The Blues, Filth and Bummers will be queueing up to nab him.

you forget Ninthmond (though they will be pushing to get anywhere hear ninth this year) and the Dwarfburners.

We would only need to use pick 4 if the teams in front of us (1-3 on selections) made a bid on him. His stocks may be rising, but that far? I'd be surprised.

What we have to hope for is that a) no-one bids in the first round after us, but then also, b) no-one bids in the first few picks before us in the second round. In which case, we'd get him as a third-rounder. Nice.

Best outcome is that he improves so much that he's seen as top 10 but not top 3, then we can then scoop him up at pick 22+, just like Jack Viney...

can someone please give me some info on this kid. Any current players can we liken to him as an indication of his style of play?

I watched him play last year in the granny and I thought he was really silky version of Steele Sidebottom. Can break the lines like Hill from freo but I think he was BOG for glenelg in the losing side. Massive upside. Can run all day and use his pace quite well.

Cale Morton, Josh Bootsma, Jordan Gysberts, Richard Tambling...

Kinda like a slower Justin Sherman.

Spread the word. Tell your recruiter friends.

Or rumours that he's mates with Tony Abbott.

No one would believe that.

I think he may have a LisFranc injury leading to bouts of depression. (No I am not having a dig at Mitch)

He's Simon Godfrey with no tank and poor defensive skills.

..... So he's Simon Godfrey then ;-)

(Although Godders did have a tank, you wouldn't put his tank in the the same category as a Judd or a cousins or an ablett.....)

Yes, you would.

What a tagger...

I may have forgotten the rules on this but my reading of F/S is as follows:

If we want Stretch as a second rounder, then any club that offers up a first rounder would force us to use our first-round pick on him.

So the worst case scenario for us is that if he is ranked between 10-18 by the recruiting gurus at other clubs.

That would mean that all those clubs that finish above us on the ladder would have the choice of forcing us into giving up our early pick to claim him.

Let's assume we finish 12th-15th, which is likely on current form, then we'd have to give up our top pick (4-7) for him.

At this stage he's certainly not regarded that highly.

The only good thing is that the Hawks won't take him no matter what, so there's only about seven other sides we have to worry about.

No, Simon Godfrey had an amazing tank and was great defensively.

He just couldn't get or use the footy. He was a pure negating tagger and he was very very good at it.

Teams just simply can't carry mids that only negate.

Was that an attempt at humour?

i am just curious to know how he plays because i havent seen anything on him.

Very fast, break the lines type with good kicking skills. Outside mid at this stage but from I hear this will change as he gets older, not afraid of a contest. Definitely not like Cale Morton, more like Hill from Freo.

No. Try this:

Father-Son Rule: This rule was introduced to ensure that family traditions were upheld when it comes to footy, as sons of fathers that played for any given club could be selected by that club regardless of zoning rules. In order to be eligible for the Father-Son Rule, the father had to have played at least 100 games for the club. All other teams are allowed to bid on the son. The team that wishes to draft the son then has to match the highest bid with their next available draft selection.

He's trying to sell him down because we have to bid for him and it will cost a 2nd or 3rd round pick.

It would be great to get him for a 3rd round pick, but at the end of the day we will probably get him with our second pick in the draft I think. He is going to be a player and is in the mould of a few of the hawthorn players. Can't wait to see his beep test results in the combine

Simon Godfrey epitomises the Daniher era team's problem: too many players that needed to be carried by a select few. You don't win flags with salad...I mean players like Godfrey.

HEAVEN OR HELL by The Oracle

Clashes between Melbourne and St Kilda are often described as battles between the forces of heaven and hell. However, based on recent performances, it’s hard to get excited about the forthcoming match between these two sides. It would be fair to say that, at the moment, both of these teams are in the doldrums. The Demons have become the competition’s slow starters while the Saints are not only slow to begin, they’re not doing much of a job finishing off their games either. About the only th

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k
