I have now heard to much about this to ignore it.

The demons are being reported to of made a formal offer for Power defender Greg Bentley.

Hardly a big scalp, but word around is he WILL be at MFC next year.

Has impressed Dean Bailey whilst in PA, and is reportedly wanting to move home to Victoria.

Orginally from the stingrays, he is a strong backmen, who can play tall or small, with good leg speed and great hands.

He has played 21 games for Port.

Not sure what we'd have 2 give for him, but the rumours are that Port are VERY keen on DAniel Bell, and are competing with the crows for his services.

In other reports, The demons have also reportedly shown interest in Kane Tenace, Adelaide's Jonathon Griffen, and perhaps most significantly, Farren Ray's name has been mentioned in passing days.

We'll all keep our eyes and ears open..

Hopefully both teams don't get a hold of any game vision this year!

This is a trade I like the sound of, and I know nothing about adam / greg bentley

I can't see us losing

Bell is better than Bentley.

I didn't think Bell was better than anyone. This Bentley guy must be the pits.

Or, you're wrong.

Wonder which one it is.

Know nothing about Bentley.

Griffen is rumoured to want to return to Perth where Freo are interested, naturally. Tenace and Ray are no better than Simon Buckley imo.

Also know nothing on Bentley but would suprised we would target defenders. Tenace and Ray on one hand offer the one thing we dont have (speed) but on the other hand offer the one thing we have plenty of (poor disposal).

Bucks is better because of his size....

Id say Ray and Tenace still have a bit of potential, good pace. Might be worth something small but wouldn't give much.

The former.

Bentley played 5 games this year for a total of 21 while Bell played 18 this year (63) and was also a regular last year. Whilst games played aren't the perfect criteria for determining the relative worth of players, they're generally considered better than the subjective conclusion that you reached. I think Bell's value on the market would be greater than Bentleys and we can do better than a straight swap.

Farren Ray would be a good aquisition as he adds some much needed pace. Tenace is a dud.

I wouldn't bother with Tenace, but i do think Ray would be worth a punt. I too don't know alot about this Bentley, if we were to just straight swap with Port, Bell for Bentley would we come out of this a winner, all square or would we be going backwards?

I don't get excited by objects that are no longer useful, although I acknowledge that there are degrees of uselessness. A tool that's useless isn't worth more than a tool that's marginally better, but still incapable of efficiently performing the task at hand. They are either capable of performing the function requested of them, or they're not.

I don't know much about Bentley, so I can't comment, but I do know our tool. And it's passed its used by date. Even if it's been used more often. Could our tool be sold or traded ? Possibly, if the buyer is unsuspecting. But don't expect much.

Farren Ray has been linked to his home state of W.A. I don't think that we're a chance to relocate there.

If Carlton can't satisfy Freo re: Warnock I can see some variation of this happening...

- Warnock to Dees

- Griffen to Freo

- Bell & 2nd Round pick to Adelaide

Then 3rd Round pick for Bentley ... considering not many have even heard of him he can't be worth that much

(especially if people are talking about a straight swap for Bell)

gotta love trade time:)

Had heard a whisper that some ship is leaving its port.. but nothing as to define its name....Time will tell

Agree on both fronts, but would only take Ray in the PSD.

You have to really feel that the PSD will have a different significnce this year.. Its alwasy been the poor cousin in all this trade stuff.. Might finally find its relevance this year ..just a thought !!

UP IN LIGHTS by Whispering Jack

Those who watched the 2024 Marsh AFL National Championships closely this year would not be particularly surprised that Melbourne selected Victoria Country pair Harvey Langford and Xavier Lindsay on the first night of the AFL National Draft. The two left-footed midfielders are as different as chalk and cheese but they had similar impacts in their Coates Talent League teams and in the National Championships in 2024. Their interstate side was edged out at the very end of the tournament for tea
