I never liked the look of Demonology. When I first became interested in posting about the MFC, Demonology had that weird takeover happening (who the [censored] bothers to do a takeover of a message board?) and I also felt at the time, the content of posters here was far superior.

I hadn't realised the likes of @Pollyannaand @Axis of Bobwere posters over there, because they are some of my favourites now. I do remember really liking RobbieF's posts too.

I've now been here 12 years. Time flies. It's really helped me download after all our terrible losses in that time, from 186 to the Neeld years. Thanks to @Whispering_Jack, @Demonland, @Nasher and @Grapeviney for providing a space where it can happen.

RobbieF was a great. Use to enjoy reading his content. I believe he use to post on here under a different name? But haven't seen him on here for couple of years.

Another who I hope is still kicking around.

There was a site called MFCFlame which was the first one I joined. I remember old55 (Pollyanna) and Rono (TGR) were on it. Then found Demonland which had a whole lot more traffic. Demonology was revived on a new platform by a young fella named Jarrad - I think with Tim's blessing. He did a good job but it never really gained the traction of the old site. I went across (different user name to here) but haven't been on for a couple of years. Got jack of old mate Range Rover hijacking every thread.

Go the Biff, the constant derailing of threads by the same few people was the last straw for me too. It became unreadable. Such a pity for the sites administrator and Tim's legacy. I have been reading both sites for many years starting in the earlier 2000s. I never posted very much. I was originally on ology a lot more as I could read it at work, while Demonland was blocked by the firewall for some reason. If anyone remembers Aaron Rogers on our list, I was working with his Dad at the time and we has a few conversations over what was on the site.

Thank goodness now for land.

Now in retirement it might be time to wander back and see if the manhood measuring has settled down. The world is a better balanced place with both sites going strongly. At least I have time to post every now and then nowadays.

What a trip, I was just wondering about GSmith (Graeme) a couple of days ago and thought about posting, enquiring about what he’s up to. Glad to hear he’s enjoying retirement. We had a good rapport.

I remember Rono (TGR) calling this place Strawberry Fields, because it was all positivity and niceties. Yeah nah, add that to the list of [censored] he got wrong. Haven’t seen him around for a while.

What about Rollo? Is he still around?

Was going to post a few weeks back but it must be time for a bit of a whip around to help support the site.

May need lots more bandwidth if the season goes as we hope it does. Perhaps even more if it goes the other way ?

Rollinson was a riot. Loved his contribution until his seemingly abrupt departure.

Used to post on Demonology more than here to start with. Graham Gaunt was a great poster, especially in the EPL thread.

AKA old55 and Spunjy

I'm another who was primarily an 'ologist until it ate itself.

Had the pleasure of meeting GSmith for a couple of beers here in Canberra a few years back...a true gentleman.

Used to post there  under different name much more than here. Remember deestroy all a fair bit and the great TGR who was a legend in his own lunch time. Surprised g smith never came over.

Demonology still operates under different operators than the people who conned Tim_ into letting them take it.

Not as active as the old days.  Demonland is the place to be.

I often wondered if Dr Who ended up here in some guise. Maybe multiple ones. Would get sniffed out pretty quick though I would suspect with their views.

Good old Dr Who and his brother….

I remember the day well when the news broke that 'ology was under siege. I can't remember exactly who announced it, but it almost felt like one of those surreal events that you feel like you are living in the moment and as such leave you gobsmacked.

I remember that actual names were revealed, a lot of double dealing came to the fore and ultimately, 'ology was moved on to a website removed from the shenanigans they tried to pull.

I was a bit like @dazzledavey36 in my relationship to 'ology. I read it a lot, but rarely posted. I found it all a bit too cliquey to be honest.

I find it a bit surprising now to discover that 'ology followers found 'landers to be too optimistic in the past! I think we are fairly moderate now, but during Neeld and CS's reigns of terror, you wouldn't recommend this joint to anyone who was down in the dumps. Not without good reason mind you!

I believe that Tim was quite ill which influenced his decision to relinquish control of Demonology.

Does anybody here know Tim and/or know how he is doing?   I hope he's going well and enjoying our year.

I have observed some common traits of several posters calling themselves  Dr.......  Perhaps I need to eat more apples.

That reminds me - markc was another passionate Melbourne man that frequented both sites. I hope I’ve got my wires crossed here but did I read recently that he had passed away?

I'm sorry @george_on_the_outer. Thank you to you too.

Correct Nasher, one of his friends posted on here that he had sadly passed.

I’d say that this place probably changed due to the influx of Demonology refugees.

He has made a few tentative comebacks, hasn't he? There was a fellow here called DaveyDee, who was purported to be the Doctor and was crapping on about Richmond and GWS' club standards during his last cameo here.

He went on about Carlton’s training standards about 5-6 years ago

i remember that well!!

2 things.

1) I hear how long demonology was around for, and then I myself only realised there were AFL supporters forums online, 4 years ago... and stumbled across this one, and wish I had come across it early in my life. The Demonology personalities sound like they were far more abrasive than on here.

2) This is a pretty meta thread.

  • REPORT: West Coast

On a night of counting, Melbourne captain Max Gawn made sure that his contribution counted. He was at his best and superb in the the ruck from the very start of the election night game against the West Coast Eagles at Optus Stadium, but after watching his dominance of the first quarter and a half of the clash evaporate into nothing as the Eagles booted four goals in the last ten minutes of the opening half, he turned the game on its head, with a ruckman’s masterclass in the second half.  No superlatives would be sufficient to describe the enormity of the skipper’s performance starting with his 47 hit outs, a career-high 35 possessions (22 of them contested), nine clearances, 12 score involvements and, after messing up an attempt or two, finally capping off one of the greatest rucking performances of all time, with a goal of own in the final quarter not long after he delivered a right angled pass into the arms of Daniel Turner who also goaled from a pocket (will we ever know if the pass is what was intended). That was enough to overturn a 12 point deficit after the Eagles scored the first goal of the second half into a 29 point lead at the last break and a winning final quarter (at last) for the Demons who decided not to rest their champion ruckman at the end this time around.

  • POSTGAME: West Coast

Following a disastrous 0–5 start to the season, the Demons have now made it three wins in a row, cruising past a lacklustre West Coast side on their own turf. Skipper Max Gawn was once again at his dominant best, delivering another ruck masterclass to lead the way.
