Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I worry about:
Vanders - huge first term then rarely sighted, just don't think he's got the run in the legs this year which is understandable. Small chance of suspension but unlikely, a fine if he's unlucky. If it wasn't for the bye after next week I'd be resting him coming back from Perth

Spargo - still like a lot of what he does but isn't being clean with the ball, not overly worried about his lack of strength in tackles but his clean ball use was excellent and has gone missing to an extent. Still want him in the final because he's a long term player

Oscar - think he's pretty likely to get suspended, even if undeserving, also had a bunch of yuck moments getting caught in tackles and letting Vardy sprint off him, before some strong spoils later in the game

Pedersen (Oscar), JKH (Spargo/Vanders) both options. Bugg a chance if they want to tag a wingman and just want more running in the side. Tim Smith a small possibility.

Players get their rest after round 23.

No chance O Mac is even looked at fir the darling incident. Was a terrific tackle, one motion only.

And Garlett back in after we got 22 players buying in and not choking?? Please!!

delist.

What's the odds they look at OMac cause darling got concussed, I thought he couldn't have tackled any better but they've gone on the outcome in other cases

Absolutely no chance of a suspension for Oscar.
AVB is a chance for a week for his errant elbow to the head o (I think?) Rioli. No chance of a penalty for the tunnelling/spoiling incident. Barely even a free kick that one.

Tyson wont be playing finals.

Viney will be in week 1

Is that why Tyson played forward for a stint?

Hadn't thought that far ahead.

They wanted to see what he looked like forward, when Vines is back in.?

Dare I say it, possibly Bugg for Spargo

I think now we are guaranteed a finals berth, I would rest Spargo.  2 weeks off from AFL.

A week off from footy,  then a game with Casey, during the bye week.

As others have said above - Absolutely no way does omac get looked at for that tackle. Text book. No malice and no undue care.

vanders will be looked at and may be lucky and only get a fine.

Tyson gets absolutely no respect. I was a former Tyson hater too but he's very handy.

No change. If anyone goes out it could be Weidemann for Garlett or someone else with some pace. You need heaps of it on the G, and you need even more against GWS.

garlett who didn't even try yesterday?

Garlett definitely doesn't come back in, barring him killing it for the VFL before the finals I feel like he's played his last game for the seniors for the year.

Spargo and Hibberd (hammy issue?) are the only changes I would look at. All the others that came in did what was asked of them and no one else did anything to warrant being dropped. I don't get the hate on Tyson, he's actually quite a good extractor of the footy which is why it's going to be interesting to see what happens when Viney is back.

Surely the most Vanders will get for his elbow will be a fine.

Oscar's tackle was exactly the same as the one where Joel Smith broke his collarbone, and no one got cited there. no change unless someone has a niggle, then give them the 2 weeks rest. Would love to get hold of Geelong in the finals.

…or someone else with some pace. Not married to Garlett. Not even married to a change.

Hannan and Kent both have plenty of pace. They just aren't very good natural crumbers. We've just got to keep getting them in the right positions.

T Mc and ANB can beat their opponents with run. And Melksham on a tall or slower defender has a good combination of pace/endurance, as does Spargo and Vanders.

We had a number of excellent forward entries to Melksham and Hannan today and some good leading from all the guys. The long kicks to Tommy Mc and Weids were bought to ground but not crumbed. If Kent and Hannan in particular can find a bit of chemistry with the talls as soon as possible that would be great. Doubt it will happen but we can hope.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,

LEADERS OF THE PACK by The Oracle

I was asked to write a preview of this week’s Round 8 match between Melbourne and Geelong. The two clubs have a history that goes right back to the time when the game was starting to become an organised sport but it’s the present that makes the task of previewing this contest so interesting. Both clubs recently reached the pinnacle of the competition winning premiership flags in 2021 and 2022 respectively, but before the start of this season, many good judges felt their time had passed - n
