Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Although it's unlikely there is still an outside chance of us cocking this one up. Unless there are serious question marks (Hibberd eg grabbed his hammy) we should field our best side and try to get as much momentum for September.

Spargo would be the only one I'd drop but I don't know who comes in as no one really did much at Casey.

He played out the game, and made a couple of very important contests with decent pace so he appeared to be ok. But at the same time if there are doubts on players like him then giving them a 2 week spell for finals could do them a world of good.

All indications are though that we came out of the match without any injuries worth reporting.

I'm a little worried about Fritsch's form in the past three, four weeks. Maybe he is carrying something or the backline move is taking some time to adjust to.

Maybe he just needs a spell?

He is playing a different role.  He pushed back hard a few times into D50 and stopped the one over the back that has cost us throughout the year.  He also delivered some beaut passes and was part of the chain that led to Melky getting the goal to get the lead back.  He got caught out as a defender a few times, but I’m not sure he has ever trained there.  He has done more than enough, and certainly played a team first role on the weekend.

He's getting thrown around like an octopus in a washing machine, he'll be right.

He’s being played out of position.

Nothing to worry about.

Out of position for him maybe; but short of Lever apparating tomorrow with a rejuvenated ACL, there's no one I'd rather have playing his role at the MFC right now.

Given Casey’s poor loss over the weekend with no one putting in a “pick me” performance and no reported injuries that are serious it’s highly likely we’ll go in with no change.

If they want to play things safe with Hibberd, Wagner comes in. Spargo has been poor for a while and for me WC was his worst (he’s a young player at the end of a long season), I would like to see him dropped or rested but I just can’t for the life of me see who could possibly come in for him. Maybe JKH who was IMO unlucky to be dropped.

Spargo to be replaced by Bugg (may be his last chance.),Keilty could be a surprise.

Could easily see Bugg coming in, but I don’t think they’ll debut Dec. The backline seems pretty well set now with Hibbo back, and even though Keilty’s been in great form (been in the best on in the VFL for the last 5 or 6 weeks now I think) I don’t see a spot for him. Just hoping he gets another contract.

Spargo has been cooked for 3 weeks. Unfortunately needs a rest after a big first year.

Garlett is the only suitable replacement, and unless a great game on Sunday, will make way for Viney in week 1 of finals.

Thought Bailey wasn't in the game as much as he has been but still showed poise with ball in hand. Wasn't a huge fan of some of defensive efforts.

Agree - but it's because he's not really a one on one defender. He doesn't have the body strength, nor the experience, he's more the sweeper role down back. Fritstch is better further up the ground, either forward or wing, which  for me is a case for including a more specialist defender, though not sure who ... Joel Smith when he comes back or as you mention, Wagner?

Keilty will surely get another contract, especially with Pedersen almost certain to retire.

Is a corked hammy serious? Obviously not as bad as a hamstring tear but if there's bleeding into the muscle or something??? Will he miss this week?

He played out the game so obviously can’t have been too serious. We play on Sunday so he’s got the full week to recover I’m definitely of the opinion that if there’s a bit of concern we should rest him. We don’t want to be in GWS’s situation and losing players leading into finals.

Pederson could well get a gig at GC or Freo...or Crapton

JKH was not unlucky 2b dropped he 2 as lucky 2b selected in the side in the first place. He lacks composure.

the gws is a fast running side, so while i initially thought no change been wondering if we should not bring wagner into the backline and move bailey up into the forward line and rest either kent or spargo.

I'm not sure I understand this. Wagner is very slow. While moving Fritcsh up the ground is certainly desirable I don't see how that helps us with pace if it means Wagner returns.

I think there was English somewhere in there. But I actually don’t rate him and don’t have him anywhere near our finals outfit but if we’re looking at players have EARNED a shot at playing this week than he would be one of the few that might fill Spargo’s spot.

Spargo was far and away worse against GC and continued his poor form against WC. He SHOULD be dropped going on how everyone else has been dropped/promoted but whether someone else has earned the shot is another story.

I think Wagner comes in for Hibberd this week. No risks to be taken with Hibberd as he is key to finals for us.

Viney to replace Spargo as defensive forward in 2 weeks if he is ready for finals. Last week Goody used Oliver and Trac as rotating forwards, so Viney adds to this mix.

Minimal changes as our best 22 should be set now.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
