Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Petracca in a rut?

Article on AFL site about Trac.

The following stood out.

All I want to focus on at the moment is just doing what Simon tells me to do, playing my role as that half-forward by putting a lot of pressure on. It's stuff that probably doesn't get recognised, but it does get recognised inside the four walls."

Let's hope the pass mark Goodwin is seemingly giving him is part of the process in getting him out of his rut.

Otherwise, he's accepting of mediocre efforts from a guy who has all the tools to be a very damaging player but unable to deploy them in tight games.

In a media release, Christian admits he has to lift his game.

I get a little tired of these media releases, with players and coaches stating the bleeding obvious or feeling they have to respond to criticisms in the media.

Sure, Christian needs to lift, but making these statements will not make it happen.

In order to improve his performance he needs to work on his fitness so that he can match the fitness levels exhibited by the stars of the game. Take a look at Dustin Martin, have a look at the way he trains and the extra work he does to improve himself.

Martin was once like Petracca, had all the ability but not the application. People and footballers can change. But is needs hard work, lots of hard work, single mindedness, sacrifice and a mind free of distractions

He needs to have a good hard look at himself, at others, do the work that is required without compromise and go out on the field and do it, not make statements about it.

He can do it, but is he willing?

In the article he is quoted as saying:  “I want to be someone who has an impact in every game. At the moment I’m probably not doing that".

Even the very best players do not impact every game.  Not Dusty, not Fyfe, not Dangerfield.  Time Christian took some pressure off himself.

Get fit, work hard and lay low for a while, out of the media spotlight.  The more media he does the more the spotlight will be on him when he has a flat patch.

Yes. Incredibly poor judgement, unless he has been reading DL and this was a release valve. Inn which case he should have posted directly.

I sometimes wonder when these articles appear if the clubs have pressure from the marketing gurus in the AFL (and maybe the club itself) to keep feeding the media.  I can't see any reason why a player or  a club would do so otherwise.  I cannot see how it helps the player improve nor makes the supporters feel better.  Even the most casual supporter will see that he is playing poorly and only an idiot would think that the coach and the player don't know it and are not trying to fix it without being told in this article.  Publishing this trash doesn't help fix it - just sets the player up for more unwelcome attention.

No one needs to feed the machine.

Yeah, if that's accurate he could probably do with losing 8-10kgs, particularly if he wants to play midfield.

Sue...if i may,

A good way to stay sane, grounded and reasonably happy ( other than the assault on our demeanor made by the MFC during its annual comedy parade ) is to just not indulge the media by reading/watching any of it. It's just about guaranteed to be 99% recycled garbage .

The only publishing i personally take much notice of are ...the results ;)

Anything from clubs is especially chancey ... anything from players...meh

Anything from 'experts' invariably requires a spray of dettol.

Each to own of course

Yep the only thing that matters is the score board. The rest has no influence on who plays finals.

If Trac wants to have serious time in the midfield he needs to drop a bit of weight (he's ripped, so that means a bit of muscle).

He needs to be weighing in the low 90's/kgs at the most for him to be able to increase his stamina. Hogan is 10cm taller and only 4kg heavier and even he is not a permanent mid. TMAC is similar in size and weight as well.

If we plan to use him more as a forward with short bursts in the middle, i'd still have him drop a little weight (just not as much to remain explosive and powerful), but if midfield is his goal, at least 5kgs needs to go.

That’s a worry.  Fitness, diet, weight are pretty basic things that even non professional athletes and sportspeople understand.

Needs to lose 8kg, if that’s bulk, then he still has to lose it. 96kgs looks to heavy for him onfield, unless he’s carrying an injury which I’m starting to think he might be? May explain his lack of effort, unless he’s of course just a lazy player.

His fatness disgusts me too, I wish my fat was like that

Probably is a problem to be honest.

Trac doesnt seem like the kind of guy that would stick to a professional diet.

I understand people are frustrated by his form, but I draw the line at accusations that are 100% conjecture with no basis in fact.

Don’t make things up when you have no idea if it’s true or not. You might think it harmless, but it doesn’t take long at all for someone’s speculation to become the common wisdom.

Club needs to improve on who says what and when and also who is allowed into the inner sanctum / 4 walls ... pre-match.

What the hell was that nonsense with BT before Friday night's game?  He was even looking to sneak in some info off the pre-match white board and the message from the coach.  The Pies don't even let him in post match for the roaming BS!

The Maxy BS interview just before the match started also.  Coach needs to take that mantle.

MFC needs to be more ruthless and let the boys fully focus on getting into the finals for the first time in over a decade!

Apart from the Captains/Coach on game day and one or two seniors being trolled out during the week...all others should be off limits on game day or weekly press rounds until we win our first final.

It's time to impliment the FOF rule... [censored] Off Fugazi!

Nasher I always find it interesting that people think what is said on here has an effect on a player.

Most players would not even know we exist let alone read our ramblings. Genuine question do you think the FD read this? If they do then do you think they take any notice?

If a 100 people on here think Petracca Is over weight do you really think that has effect on his attitude?

I am interested in your thoughts.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
