Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Looks like Essendrug will play finals.

Proves the were barely punished for the drug cheating regime. They should have been out of the finals for 5 years minimum.

But they were allowed to keep their top picks, got  handed the easiest draw despite all their returning players, and were allowed to keep their top up players like Tipungwiti who no other club access to as he was never in a draft.

[censored] you AFL.

Tippa wasn't a top up player. Was taken in 2015 rookie draft

Tippa was rookie drafted by us and elevated last year.

Melbourne could have drafted him if they wanted to.

Honestly I don't hate Essendon that much anymore. They cheated, but they did their time for that and have ridded themselves of the ringleaders. I still don't want them in the finals but they play a good brand and I'd rather them than the bloody Hawks getting in again.

Anyway, watching the Gold Coast tonight reminded me of Melbourne in 2012-14. What a spineless rabble they are. Mad Monday can't come quick enough.

Don't care who makes it once we do.

Yes I hate Meth Coast more than any sporting organisation in the world but honestly more focused on the Dees than anything.

Not looking beyond Brisbane tomorrow

It is so nice that they likely wont be in the finals.

In fact, despite my Essendon rant earlier, I may just prefer to see them instead of the Eagles.

So sick of the flat track bullies taking a spot in the 8 and may this be the beginning of their slide down the ladder with Priddis, Kennedy, Hurn, McKenzie etc nearing the end.  Their core players are all 27+ and they lack any young talent.  They might just be in trouble.

Was hoping GWS would beat WCE by more but beggars can't be choosers.

We can still make the finals by losing to Brisbane AND Collingwood, right?

1) We lose both by very small margins.

2) Dogs lose to Hawks

3) Saints lose to Richmond and don't beat north by a million points.

4) West Coast lose to Adelaide by a few goals.

Hopefully the players don't get complacent and read the above scenario as it would be a disappointing but feasible  way to make it.

Is Zac Fisher the twin brother of Wednesday Addams?image.png.cfbdcd32c9c0785839ddbf9f0b959a1c.png

He's got a bit of John Cazale about him I reckon, and that ain't a good thing.

I liked it better earlier in the season when I didn't know what Fisher looked like and he was just a rookie on my SC bench who I hoped would get a game and make some cash...he didn't even do that properly.

Yes, this is now true thanks to Carlton beating Hawthorn (previously had this occurred, Hawthorn would have taken our spot). It would be a matter of holding our percentage over West Coast (and the Dogs and St Kilda, but we're 10% in front of them so that's not as difficult).

If we win today, the only thing stopping us from making the finals is a loss to Collingwood combined with West Coast thrashing Adelaide next week to catch us on percentage.

Indeed.  We are around 28 points worth of percentage ahead of West Coast currently.  It would be good if after today that was 70 points, meaning that a 20 point loss to the Pies would still require a 50 point win by West Coast to dislodge us.  Better still Dees, let's just win the last two games unequivocally!

And there's every chance Fremantle will beat Essendon next week and [censored] over their finals chances.

Fremantle would be loathe to let bitterest rivals WC get into the finals. I would not be surprised if they roll over and let the bummers have a percentage boosting win.

I think we're giving Fremantle too much credit.

I don't think they're anywhere near good enough to control the outcome of that game.

    CENTIMETRES by Whispering Jack

Our game is one where the result is often decided by centimetres; the touch of a fingernail, a split-second decision made by a player or official, the angle of vision or the random movement of an oblong ball in flight or in its bounce and trajectory. There is one habit that Melbourne seems to have developed of late in its games against Carlton which is that the Demons keep finding themselves on the wrong end of the stick in terms of the fine line in close games at times when centimetres mak

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
