Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Vince is cooked but I disagree about Lewis (tonight)...I've been one of his biggest critics but thought he was good tonight.

So one of that Crows-Port-GWS-Saints quad is down and we're 0-1. Need to finish that group 2-2 to play finals. Simple as that. We probably match up better against the latter 2. Port looms as another tough match up. Could be out of the 8 by the end of next round. The AFL has truly screwed us with fixturing this year.

Just outclassed.  Had our share of the ball, but used it poorly, fumbled, couldn't seem to mark the ball, bombs forward to nobody.  Had quite a few swings of momentum our way but could never peg back the margin enough to be competitive.  Gave away a few junk time goals at the end which was a shame.

A few junior players stood up - JKH, ANB and Oliver all very good.  Hogan in the second half looked like he was starting to get going, which was pleasing.  Looked awful in the first half.

Hunt kicked a belter of a goal after the siren at 3/4 time.  If nothing else, watch that.

Thanks.

My dad said the Hunt goal was the only highlight too. I got excited as I watched us peg back the margin. A shame that we ended up losing by a big margin in the end.

How bad is Kents injury?

He kicked into the man on the mark. As usual.

So did many others tonight.

Given how little senior footy JKH has played of late I thought he did quite well and holds his place next week

We were monstered by their talls whilst ours struggled, missing inside grunt, finesse, blah, blah.

Positives:

- we fought back; albeit disappointing we conceded so many late goals.

- hogan worked his way into the game to get some confidence up going forward.

- JKH was finally played in the right position and did quite well.

- Gawn did a few good things in the 2nd half (see Hogan)

- Jeffy saw a lot of the ball and applied reasonable pressure.

- ANB continues good form.

- Milkshake presenting as another scoring option.

- Kents tackle on Sloane.

- Hunt's 3q time 65 metre ROOOOST

Negatives:

Insert here ............

Our tackling game has been pretty good all season but it was well off tonight which combined with the fumbling was one of the big differences between the two sides. The Crows were much cleaner in the conditions and stuck their tackles at important times. The apparent inability to tackle Walker was especially frustrating.

The amount of space they were allowed in their forwardline was a concern and their speed of transition played a big part. We got smashed on the rebound often through the corridor. Again this was uncharacteristic so hopefully it was just an off night in that regard and will be helped with the return of some top liners.

Forward entries were particularly poor although at times there didn't seem to be anyone to kick to anyway. JKH and Melksham had decent games but were two of the man offenders along with Pedo.

Frost played his worst game of the year by far and his individual errors were costly. Seemed like he was playing outside of his limitations.

Nibbler is really going from strength to strength. He's cementing his spot now.

Oscar still has some development to go but he's looking more assured.

Hunt goal was a season highlight and probably the best individual effort of the night.

All in all some negatives that haven't been part of a pattern this season, and some of the players to come back will be very welcome returns.

As for the "home" support. What a joke. Vastly outnumbered yet again. It would want to make a lot financial sense because it's a failure on pretty much every other front.

I don't think I have ever seen more in a game we must have had our kicks smothered at least 15 times tonight

Agree,  I can't remember more smothers  in 1 game and some if them were at crucial moments where we had open space in front if us!

We gutsed it out. If not for our terrible delivery into our haphazard forwardline the game would have been considerably closer .

Well done JKH,  you've earnt at least another game or 2!

Those repetitive long bombs in hope inside 50 were disappointing, especially when Goody has talked about lowering the eyes and delivering unselfish entries to advantage (radio interview before swans game). Many of those long bombs were not even under any pressure.

Do you have us beating Port next week to get that result Chook?

I'm still hoping we can make finals, but we really need some of those A graders back fast.

No. I have us beating Brisbane, North Melbourne, and Collingwood. Pessimistic perhaps, but more likely realistic based on our performances recently. And as we all know, beating North Melbourne may even be a bridge too far for us.

As someone with dodgy shoulders, it looked like it hurt like f***. Felt for him, he was in agony. They showed him in the rooms watching in a chair on his own (can apparently see the ground from the rooms) and he looked gutted. Can't see him playing again this year, but that's just completely uneducated guesswork from me.

To be honest though he'd done precisely zero to that point other than miss an easy goal, so I doubt he'd have been in the team next week regardless.

Why are people going on about Darwin? This is our first interstate loss of the year. We've lost more games at the G than away.

Adelaide are not on top of the ladder for nothing.

It had nothing to do with Darwin, we would have still lost at the G against this Adelaide side.

People seem to still forget we are in recovery mode re finances.

You will never win a game of football relying on a backwards running Garlett and Melksham, going into your forward line. It's just wishful thinking.

We had zero forward line presence tonight.

Why I'm going on about Darwin has little to do with the result. They are a better team, but that heat was absolutely not for footy. The sweat was so bad that the ball being a bar of soap to us was an understatement not to mention our guys are going to lose 5 kg and this WILL have an impact on our conditioning next week. We had zero support and were completely outnumbered in the crowd. Hey if you want to keep the Darwin game and have some good arguments for it be my guest but currently I see no benefit of it to us whatsoever.

The only good thing I saw him do was that tackle in Sloane.

If he wasn't injured I would have dropped him next week.

You're kidding? He had one good run then fluffed the inside 50 and he got on the end of a cheap one...what else did he do?

A lot of wrist slashing given our injury depleted team lost to that clear top team in the competition, hashing beaten them when we were were full strength earlier this year.

Hell, 24 months ago we would be happy this wasn't 90 points.  We'd have been happy to be competitive.

i know he was injured but you need more than 3 tackles to cover getting only 5 disposals...

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
